(Minghui.org) Authorities in Jiangyang District, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province harassed at least 11 local residents between October and December 2024 for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since July 1999.
The harassers usually consisted of police officers, community workers, and/or government officials. They photographed and filmed the targeted practitioners and asked if they still practiced Falun Gong. One practitioner’s family condemned the police for harassing law-abiding citizens and an officer replied that was because the practitioners were against the CCP.
Below is a quick list of the harassed practitioners.
Ms. Dong Guozhen and Ms. Liu Zongfen were both harassed three times between October and November 2024, by the Taian Town Police Station and Taian Town Government. Every time the harassers came, they took pictures of the practitioners, their families, and their homes.
Ms. Luo Shuizhen and her husband Mr. Wei Fengming were harassed in November 2024, by an officer from the Beicheng Police Station and 4 workers from the Zaojiaoxiang Community. They took pictures of the couple and left without going inside. It seemed to the couple that the officers were just completing a task.
Ms. Li Shigui and Ms. Wu Houyu were also harassed in November 2024, by officer Wu (no relation) from the Huayang Police Station, secretary Li from Xi’an Village, and another official whose name is unknown. Officer Wu once arrested both Ms. Li and Ms. Wu on December 7, 2022 and held them for five days before putting them on a six-month house arrest. Ms. Wu stopped him from taking her pictures.
Ms. Peng Gongshu was harassed at around 10 a.m. on November 28, 2024, by two officers (one of then named Ma Lin) from the Nancheng Police Station and two male government officials from the Baizhaopai Community.
Ms. Li Youquan was harassed at around 11 a.m. on November 29, 2024, by two officers from the Dashanping Police Station and two staffers from the Jinianbiao Community (one of them secretary Wang). Her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, begged the police to leave.
Ms. Tang Xuzhen, in her 80s, and Mr. Shi Bangcai, were harassed one after another on the same day in late November 2024 by the same three officers from the Dashanping Police Station.
Ms. Li Shifang, a shop owner, was harassed at her storefront around December 10, 2024. Two women showed up that day and took pictures of her. Three days later, a deputy director surnamed Zuo from the Shangpingyuanlu Community led two staffers to harass her again.
Around the same time Ms. Li was harassed, Mr. Guo Peikun heard a knock on his door. A community worker was there and warned him that someone would come soon to talk to him.
