(Minghui.org) It’s recently confirmed by Minghui.org that two Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, residents have been sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Sun Lei, 52, and Ms. Wang Yuelan, in her 80s, were arrested by the police in Huinong District in August 2023. Their families weren’t given any updates about their cases until recently, when they were notified of the wrongful convictions. Mr. Sun was sentenced to seven years and was admitted to the Shizuishan Prison. Ms. Wang was either given a three-year probation or allowed to serve her three-year sentence at home. Other details about their cases aren’t clear.

Both practitioners have been targeted for their faith before their latest ordeals. Mr. Sun, in particular, has been incarcerated for nearly 17 years before he was sentenced again.

Mr. Sun, a former employee of the Huinong County Agricultural Bank, was given a three-year forced labor camp in 2001. He was arrested again in August 2006 and sentenced to 11 years. While he was released early, he was arrested another time on December 11, 2015 and sentenced to another three years. He was subjected to constant harassment after he was released on December 11, 2018.

Ms. Wang was also arrested and harassed multiple times. She was seized by seven officers during a group arrest on May 10, 2018 and released on the same day. After she was arrested on December 4, 2019, her home was raided. The police even ripped open the ceiling in her bathroom to check if she hid Falun Gong materials there. She was held at the local police station briefly and released that evening.
