(Minghui.org) A retired Rural Commercial Bank employee in Huaihua City, Hunan Province, was arrested multiple times in 2023 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Jiang Zhizhen and two other practitioners went to a community fair in nearby Hongjiang City in January 2023 to talk to people about Falun Gong, but they were arrested. The police searched them and took their Falun Gong materials. The practitioners were held at the Qiancheng Police Station overnight and interrogated. The police arranged residential committee staff members to escort them home the next day. The committee workers took the three practitioners’ photos when they got out of the car.
Around 11 p.m. the next day, a Hexi Community staff member knocked on Ms. Jiang’s door. When no one opened it, the staffer had Ms. Jiang’s neighbor knock on the door. When Ms. Jiang opened the door, the staffer said he was delivering a bag of rice and cooking oil to her. Suspecting that the staffer may be trying to persuade her to renounce Falun Gong, Ms. Jiang refused to accept the items and closed the door.
Ms. Jiang and two other practitioners went to the same community fair to talk to people about Falun Gong again in May 2023, only to be arrested. While one practitioner escaped, Ms. Jiang and the other practitioner were taken to the Qiancheng Police Station again. The police confiscated their Falun Gong materials and released them.
Weeks later, Ms. Jiang noticed three men standing outside her home. When she opened the door, one of them photographed her. On another occasion, four men and a woman knocked on her door and one of them photographed her when she opened the door. Among the five people, Zeng Jiuying and Shu Xiaolan worked in the same bank with her before they retired. They lived close by and now work with the residential committee to harass local Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Jiang demanded the five people write down their names and phone numbers. Only Huang Shan of the Hexi Street Committee wrote down her name.
Huang came back to harass Ms. Jiang on October 31, 2023 and demanded she report to her office on Monday to close her case. Ms. Jiang refused to comply.
