(Minghui.org) Minghui.org confirmed in early April 2024 that a Wuhan City, Hubei Province, resident was sentenced to three years and four months with a 4,000-yuan fine for putting up posters about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Qin Xiujuan, a 69-year-old native of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, moved in with her son’s family in Wuhan to care for her grandchildren after she retired from the Tangshan Printing and Dyeing Factory. She was arrested at her son’s home by officers of the Sanjintan Police Station in Wuhan on February 3, 2023. The police claimed that she had been reported for putting up Falun Gong posters in a subway station days prior on January 30. Her dozens of Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated.

Ms. Qin’s five-year-old granddaughter was left at home by herself after Ms. Qin was taken to Wuhan City First Detention Center. The police didn’t inform Ms. Qin’s son and daughter-in-law, who were working out of town, of her arrest until two days later.

The police later submitted Ms. Qin’s case to the Hanyang District Procuratorate, which indicted her and moved her case to the Hanyang District Court.

Ms. Qin appeared in court on January 29, 2024. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. The presiding judge, Pan Tao, sentenced her around early April 2024. She has appealed with the Wuhan City Intermediate Court.

This is the second time that Ms. Qin had been sentenced to prison for her faith. She was previously given 3.5 years by the Qingshan District Court in Wuhan in 2012. She suffered various forms of torture in the Hubei Province Women’s Prison. Her hair turned gray and she often suffered from cramps in her hands, legs, and feet.
