(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Yuezhong Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Wang Yuezhong, 65, from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was arrested at his daughter’s home in the Huaiyin District of Jinan City, Shandong Province, in August 2022 by officers from the Huaiyin District Domestic Security Division and Han Lin, an officer with the Xishichang Police Station on Jingsan Road. In January 2024, the Changqing District Court in Jinan City, Shandong Province, sentenced Mr. Wang to two years in prison. Mr. Wang has appealed.
2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xiao Kun Faces Trial
Ms. Xiao Kun was scheduled to be tried in the Acheng District Court at 2 p.m. on February 28, 2024.
3. [Chongqing] The Case Against Ms. Zhu Jingrong Sent to the Procuratorate
Ms. Zhu Jingrong, 78, from the Beibei District was arrested by Beibei District Police Department officers on June 7, 2023, for distributing Falun Gong materials. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Zhu had high blood pressure and was released on bail on June 8.
On January 18, 2024, Ms. Zhu’s case was turned over to the Beibei District Procuratorate, and she was summoned for interrogation. Her case was later transferred to the Jiangbei District Procuratorate.
The Jiangbei District Procuratorate arraigned Ms. Zhu on February 2. On February 4, Beibei District Police Department officers went to Ms. Zhu’s home. They brought lectures given by Falun Gong’s founder and printed materials confiscated from her home. They claimed they were verifying the quantity in order to present the items as evidence in court. They told Ms. Zhu to sign paperwork, but she refused to sign anything.
4. [Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Ye Xiuping Held in Custody
Ms. Ye Xiuping, 69, who is retired from the People’s Hospital, was taken into custody again in 2023. That was over six months ago, but her family and relatives have not been allowed to visit her.
5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Huaying Arrested
It was reported on January 1, 2024 that Ms. He Huaying, about 60, from Dujiangyan City has been held in the Pi County Detention Center for over a month. Details are pending.
6. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yumei Arrested
Ms. Wang Yumei was arrested and her home was ransacked by the Guangming Police Station on February 23, 2024. Details are pending.
7. [Daxing’anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuchun Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Zhang Xiuchun from Tahe County was arrested in March 2023 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was released on bail that day. The public security, procuratorate, and court system continued to persecute her. She was recently sentenced by Tahe County Court to one year in prison, to be served outside the prison.
8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Yunjie Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Yang Yunjie was arrested on July 4, 2022. She was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. She returned home before February 10, 2024, Chinese New Year’s Day.
9. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Arrested
On February 17, 2024, several practitioners in Yanshan County and nearby rural areas were arrested, including Ms. Xing Enxia. Further details are pending.
