(Minghui.org) When a Falun Dafa practitioner is arrested, I usually work with local practitioners in the rescue efforts. In the process, many of my attachments have been exposed, and I remind myself to rectify them with the Fa. I also find it important to uphold my righteous thoughts and not to be fearful of the police.

I often encourage myself with Master Li’s poem:

“Should you have fear,it will seize upon youIf thoughts are righteous, evil will collapse…”(“What’s to Fear?Hong Yin II)

I told myself that I’m doing the most righteous things and I’m there to save the police. I have sometimes felt frustrated that I don’t see the immediate result, or had fear that I would be arrested myself for talking to the police. As soon as I recognize the negative thoughts, I reject them and try to focus on how to successfully rescue fellow practitioners. With Master’s help, I can usually overcome my negative thoughts and continue the rescue efforts with strong righteous thoughts.

Quick Action After the Arrests of Three Practitioners

A practitioner told me one day last December that three practitioners were arrested while distributing calendars bearing information about Falun Gong. Some of us immediately went to the police station. Several practitioners were already there, sending righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors behind the arrests.

I said to Ling, the sister of Guo, a detained practitioner, that we need to go inside to talk to the officers. Ling didn’t want to go, as she thought she didn’t have the righteous thoughts, and the police wouldn’t listen to us. I encouraged her and said we can ask Master for help; practitioners were sending righteous thoughts for us and it’s our responsibility to prevent the police from committing crime against the practitioners.

Her eyes lit up. My heart was also filled with righteous thoughts. I felt that Master was right here by our sides. I quickly went through my thoughts and put together the talking points. I also reminded myself I should treat the police with compassion.

Clarifying the Facts to the Police

As soon as Ling and I entered the police station, an officer stopped us and asked who we were looking for. We said we were Guo’s family. Another officer came over and complained that Guo didn’t cooperate with them and refused to answer their questions. I said to him that their distributing Falun Gong calendars didn’t cause harm to anyone; if he continued to participate in the persecution, he would be held accountable in the future.

He looked at me and asked, “Do you also practice Falun Gong? I know you guys have been distributing materials all the time. I don’t want to get involved. But someone reported them and I had no choice but to arrest them. Guo kept talking about Falun Gong and she even asked me to quit the communist regime. I also want to release her, but if she doesn’t write the renouncing statement, I can’t do anything about it.”

I told the officer that Guo had been arrested several times before for practicing Falun Gong. Her mother was in her 90s and relied on her for care. The elderly woman would be dealt a hard blow if she found out about her daughter’s latest arrest. The officer remained silent for a brief moment and said he would think about it. I thanked him and left with Ling.

Treating the Police with Compassion

Outside of the police station, we continued to send righteous thoughts for the three arrested practitioners. The atmosphere was intense. Seeing the police cars coming and going, I felt uneasy. I reminded myself to stay positive and that our righteous thoughts had the power to dissolve the evil factors behind the persecution.

Suddenly, we saw Guo being escorted by two officers and walking out of the police station. We went up and demanded that the officers release her. It turned out that the police were about to search her home. When Guo saw us, she jumped out of the police car and shouted, “I want to go home! I shouldn’t be detained here!” She sat on the ground and refused to leave.

The police became nervous as people began to gather around the scene, and they took Guo back inside. We calmed down and continued to send righteous thoughts outside of the police station.

I shared with Ling that I noticed Guo had strong resentment recently. I said we should remind her to treat the police with compassion, as they are the real victims.

Upon seeing the other two practitioners sitting near the lobby, we went inside to talk to them. They were excited to see us. We encouraged them to ask Master for help and also reminded them not be resentful towards the police, but treat them with compassion and rationality. We didn’t see Guo, but her sister shouted her name and asked her to be compassionate, hoping she could hear it.

After the brief conversation, we came out. The coordinator practitioner went home to write the report about the arrests, and we stayed to send righteous thoughts. A few more practitioners also came and I felt a strong energy field.

Time passed by quickly. I became uneasy again seeing the police cars coming and going. My impatience surfaced. I calmed down and told myself not to be affected by them.

Not long after, both of the other two arrested practitioners, Fang and Yu, were released. We were happy for them. After exchanging a few words of encouragement, they quickly left. Just as I wondered whether Guo would also be released, the police shut down the front gate. My heart sunk.

While several practitioners stayed outside the police station, several of us went to Fang and Yu’s homes to learn more about the situation. Fang told us that none of them answered the police’s questions or wrote the statements to renounce Dafa. They also persuaded two police officers to quit the communist regime.

When we returned to the police station, we were told that Guo was just transferred to the detention center. It was already 8 p.m. We decided to go home.

Reflecting on what just happened, I regretted leaving the police station so hastily. I was impatient and my heart was easily swayed. If we had stayed, maybe we could have stopped the police from taking Guo away.

Not Giving Up

In the past, if the practitioners were taken to the detention center, we wouldn’t take further actions, but just kept sending righteous thoughts for them. But this time, I decided to talk to the police chief Wei, as he had been involved in arresting many practitioners in the past.

Ling and I returned to the police station. I told Wei about the situation of Guo’s mother in her 90s. She was dealt a hard blow learning of Guo’s arrest. She hadn’t eaten anything for several days and was in critical condition. She was yearning to see Guo.

Wei insisted that there was no way that Guo could be released, as she distributed Falun Dafa calendars and was against the Communist Party. I argued that Guo didn’t violate any law by practicing Falun Gong and it was the police who broke the law in arresting her. Wei shouted, “Are you also a practitioner? How dare you talk to me about this?”

Ling became nervous and asked to leave. I wasn’t affected and said to Wei with compassion, “You don’t have to talk so loud. We are here for your benefit.” His facial expression softened a bit, but he continued to accuse Guo of colluding with overseas anti-China forces. I argued that Guo was just a regular citizen and it’s ridiculous to force these charges onto her.

A month later, Guo’s mother passed away. We called Wei and asked if he could allow Guo to attend her mother’s funeral. While he didn’t agree, his attitude changed when we talked to him in person again. He was also more accepting when we clarified the facts to him.

Clarifying the Facts to the Village Head

We later learned that the village head had taken part in the arrests. I called him and asked if he reported the practitioners. He said someone else reported them, but it was he who arrested them. He said that as long as they came to his village to distribute the materials, he would arrest them.

I said to the village head that he would be held accountable for arresting good people. He responded that he didn’t care about the consequences. I told him several cases of people receiving karmic retribution for participating in the persecution, and some facts about Falun Gong. After talking to him for nearly half an hour, his attitude softened and he seemed to understand the facts a bit. He asked me what he should do. I suggested that he talk to the police and demand Guo’s release. He agreed. He did go to the police station the next day, but the police said that Guo had been admitted to the detention center and they didn’t have the say to release her.

To further clarify the facts to the village head, two practitioners and I went to his home and talked to him again. He fully understood and regretted his actions.

Guo was still sentenced later on. During this process, many of my human emotions had been exposed. I appreciate this cultivation opportunity and I hope to do better in the future in rescuing fellow practitioners.
