(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 8 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhu Jingrong Taken into Custody to Serve a 1.5-Year Term
Ms. Zhu Jingrong, 78, of Beipei District, was sentenced to 1.5 years by the Jiangbei District Court on June 26, 2024. She appealed with the Chongqing First Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original verdict on September 18. She was taken back into custody at the Sanxikou Detention Center after passing the physical examination on December 16, 2024. The Caijia Police Station officers ordered her daughter to bring her clothes and said she would be sent to prison in a few days.
2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Jianqiu Appears in Court for the Second Time
Ms. Zhang Jianqiu of Penglai District appeared in the Penglai District Court on the morning of December 23, 2024. She previously stood trial on November 20, 2024.
3. [Maanshan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Yang Yuping Admitted to Prison
Ms. Yang Yuping was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Huashan District Court in August 2024. A social security agent notified her on October 24, 2024, that they would suspend her pension. She was admitted to the Anhui Province Women’s Prison in early December 2024, even though she failed the physical exam.
4. [Tianjin] Ms. Dou Yufen Arrested and Abused
Ms. Dou Yufen, in her 60s, of Dongli District, was arrested at home on the morning of November 20, 2024, by officer Zhang Jianjun and others from the Erhaoqiao Police Station. The officers seized her Falun Gong books, over 200 yuan in cash, and other items. She was taken to the Hedong Police Department’s Dazhigu Case Group for interrogation. They questioned the source of her Falun Gong materials, put her into a cage, and took her hair sample and fingerprints by force. She did not answer the police’s questions and was released in the afternoon.
5. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Cai Guijiao Detained
Ms. Cai Guijiao, 75, was arrested by urban management personnel on October 30, 2024, when she was giving out free Falun Gong desk calendars in Yuecheng Wet Market. She was put into the Yueyang City Detention Center by the Yueyanglou District Domestic Security Division officers. She became very sick on the third day and was admitted to the Guangji Hospital.
6. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Meng Xianling Arrested
Ms. Meng Xianling, 75, was tailed by plainclothes officers for distributing Falun Gong flyers and arrested at home by Gulou Police Station officers in late August 2024.
7. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Deng Lijuan Detained
Ms. Deng Lijuan was arrested at home by local police officers around mid-December 2024. She was detained for five days and released.
8. [Xiantao City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Ye Arrested
Ms. Chen Ye was arrested at her home on November 7, 2024, by officers from the Jiang’an District Domestic Security Division in Wuhan City, the capital of Hubei. The officers ransacked her home, and seized a few Falun Gong books and several letters she wrote to state government officials, urging them not to persecute Falun Gong. They put her into Wuhan City First Detention Center for ten days and transferred her to Wuhan City First Lockup for another 15 days. She was released on December 3, 2024, after Jiang’an District’s Houhu Police Station officers extorted 1,000 yuan from her family.
