(Minghui.org) Ms. Fu Xinhua in her 60s, from Langfang City, Hebei Province, resident, was sentenced to one year and fined 1,000-yuan on December 9, 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Fu’s ordeal stemmed from an incident on May 26, 2023. While on her way home from grocery shopping that day, she put up self-adhesive stickers which had information about Falun Gong. Someone followed her home and reported her to the police. Officers from the Beishijiawu Police Station soon arrived to raid her home and confiscated her computer and printer. They took her to the police station for interrogation. Afterwards, they moved her to the Langfang City Detention Center.

Ms. Fu’s husband went to the police station the next day to seek her release, but to no avail. He then turned to the police station’s supervising agency, the Langfang City Police Department. The police there lied that his wife had been issued an arrest warrant and her case was no longer their business. He then went to the Anci District Procuratorate and learned that they had not issued any arrest warrant for his wife.

The couple’s son, who works in Beijing, took time off work and returned to Langfang on May 28 to seek his mother’s release. Instructor Li Jian (+86-13011942999) of the Beishijiawu Police Station referred him to a woman officer surnamed Dong (+86-13333160688) at the Anci District Police Department, who was in charge of the case.

Ms. Fu’s son visited the police department but Dong did not pick up the phone or answer his text message. He stayed there for about two hours before turning to the Anci District Procuratorate. The receptionist said the procuratorate had not received his mother’s case.

Ms. Fu was released on June 13 and put under house surveillance, with the Longhe Police Station tasked with monitoring her.

Instructor Li took Ms. Fu to the Beishijiawu Police Station on October 29 for interrogation. She was allowed to go home afterwards. After her six-month house surveillance expired in December 2023, it was extended by another six months.

A bit past 10 a.m. on March 13, 2024, officers from the Beishijiawu Police Station took Ms. Fu to four hospitals for physical examinations. All exam results indicated she had four key health indicators out of normal ranges. She was sent back home after 4 p.m.

The police finally submitted the case to the Anci District Procuratorate in August 2024. She was indicted at an unknown date. A few court workers and police officers seized her on November 13 and took her straight to the Anci District Court. They ordered her to sign certain documents, but she refused. The court workers then attempted to make her husband, who accompanied her to the courthouse, sign on her behalf. He also refused.

Ms. Fu stood trial on December 9 and was sentenced at the end of the hearing. She was taken straight to a local detention center, which refused to admit her after she was found to have high blood pressure. She was let go home at 8:30 p.m. It’s not clear when she might be taken back into custody to serve time.
