(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Jianqiu Faces Trial
The case of Ms. Zhang Jianqiu, who lives in Penglai District, has been submitted to Penglai District Court. She is scheduled to appear in the Penglai District Court at 9 a.m. on November 20, 2024.
2. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Over 20 Practitioners Arrested in One Day
Officers from various police stations in Yuncheng County arrested 20 to 30 local Falun Gong practitioners on July 10, 2024. They confiscated their Falun Gong books, informational materials, computers, printers, and other items.
Among those arrested, Chen Jinhuan and Chen Chengge were held in the Heze Detention Center. Hou Yuchun, Cui Jun, Xia Ruiying, Fan Airong, Jia Suqin, Zhang Pingxin and Zhu Lingdian were released on bail, and their cases have been sent to the procuratorate. Hou, Cui, and Fan paid 30,000 yuan each to the police as bail bond, Xia paid 20,000 yuan, and Zhang and Zhu, a married couple, were extorted between 50,000 and 90,000 yuan.
3. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] 85-Year-Old Ms. Yao Jingjiao Released on Medical Parole After Being Tortured to the Verge of Death in Prison
Ms. Yao Jingjiao, 85, was released on medical parole on October 25, 2024, after she became critically ill while serving a three-year term in the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison. Due to the severity of her condition, the Jieyang City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital refused to treat her. Her family took her home. According to a friend who visited her around November 10, 2024, her condition has improved a little. She kept crying upon seeing her friends. She was unable to talk but could wipe the tears with her left hand.
As the prison indicated that they were only releasing her on medical parole, instead of allowing her to finish serving time outside of prison, her family worried whether the prison would take her back into custody if she recovered.
4. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Shizhen and Her Family Frequently Harassed
Ms. Yang Shizhen from Shiquan Village, Jiuchi Town, was harassed on August 22, 2024, by two police officers and two auxiliary police officers, who took photos of her.
On October 16, two village deputy secretaries, the village security director, head of the village security team, among others, went to harass her again. They took out a printed copy of three statements and ordered Ms. Yang to sign it, which she refused. Afterward, the police and national security officers called Ms. Yang’s husband and son several times and harassed them. They also demanded to visit her son at his home, but he rejected them.
5. [Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xia Ning Detained
Ms. Xia Ning was arrested by three police officers while distributing calendars bearing information about Falun Gong at the Nanguan Light Industry Market on the afternoon of November 5, 2024. Her home was ransacked. She was given 15 days at the Huludao Detention Center.
6. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Li Wenhong Tried
Ms. Li Wenhong from the Lianxi District Instrument Factory was summoned by the Lianxi District Domestic Security Division on August 2, 2024. She was arrested upon arrival and has subsequently been held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center.
The Yongxiu County Court held two hearings of her on October 17 and 31, 2024, without notifying her defense lawyer Xie Yanyi or her family.
7. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Tried
Mr. Li Zhuozhong, Ms. Liao Wanqun, Mr. Xie Yujun, and Ms. Liao Juanna appeared in the Meixian District Court for the second time on November 12, 2024, following an earlier hearing on October 18. They are now awaiting verdicts.
8. [Shanghai] Ms. Xu Nixia Monitored
Before China International Import Expo was held in Shanghai between November 5 and November 10, 2024, Ms. Xu Nixia was again placed under surveillance at her home in Baoshan District on November 1. She was unable to leave home.
9. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Four practitioners were arrested by over 20 police officers from the Dongxing District Police Department on the afternoon of October 30, 2024. Their homes were also ransacked. Mr. Wang Liangsheng and his wife Ms. Lai Zongping were arrested while working in their barber shop. Ms. Li (first name unknown) and Ms. Zhuo Xiaoqiong were arrested at their respective homes. The police revealed that they had been monitoring the practitioners for a long time before the arrests.
10. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. You Quanfang’s Case Returned to the Police
Ms. You Quanfang, of Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province, was arrested in June 2024 by the police from Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. She is held at the Gucheng District Detention Center in Lijiang. The Lijiang police submitted her case to the Lijiang City Procuratorate, which has recently returned the case, citing insufficient evidence. Ms. You is still detained at the time of writing.
