(Minghui.org) On April 4 this year I was talking to people about Falun Dafa near a police station. As soon as I handed a person some Dafa materials, he grabbed my arm and said, “I’m the police! I’m arresting you!” He continued holding my arm as he made a phone call. A few minutes later, four officers arrived and took me to the police station.

This was the second time I was arrested in recent months. One officer said, “It’s you again!” They searched my bag and took the informational materials about Falun Dafa and my house key. They asked me where I lived, but I didn't tell them.

That afternoon the police called my son, and he and my daughter-in-law came to pick me up. Pressured by the police, my daughter-in-law told them my address. Three officers raided my home and confiscated my Dafa books, Master’s photos, two computers, one printer, and other materials. I was under tremendous pressure and I felt upset because I failed to protect the books and materials.

It took the police several hours to sort out the confiscated items. Around midnight, they took me to another room and asked me where I got the Dafa books. I said I collected them during the 27 years I practiced Falun Dafa. Then they asked me who gave me the Falun Dafa amulets. I also said they were part of my collection.

“Will you practice Falun Dafa in the future?” the police asked.

I said, “Of course I will continue to practice. Falun Dafa teaches people to be good. I used to suffer from all kinds of diseases, including hepatitis, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and bone hyperplasia in my vertebrae. I completely recovered after practicing Dafa. I’m now 78 years old but my health is great.”

The next day, an officer came and asked me, “Do you know me?” It turned out he was the one who arrested me. With a vicious expression on his face, he said he failed to catch the other practitioner who was with me and he vowed to find her.

I told him that I was alone and said, “Don’t talk about the persecution anymore. We have a predestined relationship. Why do you want to be involved in this persecution?”

Surprised by what I said, his attitude immediately softened and he acted like a different person. I was amazed at the power of compassion.

Released on Bail

The police next took me to a county hospital for a physical exam. I heard them say they planned to take me to a detention center. I silently asked Master for help and I refused to acknowledge their plan to detain me.

At the detention center, I was found to have extremely high blood pressure and the guard refused to admit me. The police had to take me back to the police station and they released me on bail. They demanded that my son pay them 400 yuan for my physical exam before they released me.

I looked within upon returning home and found many attachments: Sentimentality for my family, lust, a show-off mentality, jealousy, zealotry, a competitive mentality, and the attachment to doing things. Because I was the only one making materials for fellow practitioners to distribute in our town, I thought that I was very capable and thought highly of myself. Fellow practitioners also relied on me and they liked to ask my opinion when they encountered tribulations in cultivation. These are all serious attachments and I must eliminate them.

Taking the Opportunity to Save People

After they released me on bail, I knew the next step was that the police would submit my case to the procuratorate. I shouldn’t just wait for the persecution to happen. I should take the initiative, clarify the truth to them and save them. I discussed my thoughts with another practitioner. She gave me some legal documents and practitioners’ sharing about what specific actions I could take.

I felt a little overwhelmed at first and I didn’t know where to start. Another practitioner happened to visit me a day later and I said I was thinking about filing complaints against the police. She encouraged me to follow up on it and that Master would help me know what to do.

While I began preparing the complaints, my fear began to emerge: Would the police retaliate against me and intensify their persecution? I ignored it. I must do well in saving people and follow Master’s arrangements. It’s dangerous for the police to take part in the persecution and they must be saved too. To strengthen my righteous thoughts, I increased the length of time I read the Fa.

On May 6, about a month after I was released on bail, the police called me and told me they submitted my case to the procuratorate. I was quite nervous and didn’t know what to do. I almost gave up on the idea of filing complaints against the police. But encouraged by another practitioner, I overcame my fear and printed four complaint letters.

Accompanied by her, I went to the county procuratorate and told the security guard that I had complaint letters against the police for mistreating me. The security guard said their director wasn’t in the office that day. He gave me the director’s phone number and told me to make an appointment with him.

Next we went to the commission for discipline inspection. The front desk staffer didn’t want to take my letters, when I told him what they were. As I was trying to clarify the facts to him, one person came out and shouted, “The government decided twenty years ago that Falun Dafa is a (slanderous term deleted).” I tried to tell him that no law in China said that it’s a crime to practice Falun Dafa. He refused to listen and said, “If it wasn’t for your old age, I would arrest you immediately.” I felt sad for them.

I returned to the procuratorate the second day and met with the director. His attitude wasn’t bad. I got to tell him the basic facts about Falun Dafa, and that there’s no legal basis for the persecution, as well as the fact that the Chinese publication bureau lifted the ban on Falun Dafa books in 2011. I emphasized that freedom of belief is protected by the Chinese Constitution and no government entities can deprive citizens of this right.

Two days later, a practitioner suggested that I find out the specific prosecutor assigned to handle my case, so that I could directly clarify the facts to him. I made many phone calls and visited several procuratorates, but I couldn’t find any information. I didn’t even know where the police submitted my case.

The Persecution Is Dissolved

During this period of time, local practitioners kept sending righteous thoughts for me. We decided that we needed to find out the information from the police. So I went to the police station at 8 a.m. on May 18.

The first officer I saw was the one in charge of my case. He said that he had some information for me. To my surprise, he told me that my case was dismissed and that I would not be prosecuted.

Then I remembered that when they ransacked my home, that officer told others to be lenient with me. In the end, they skipped counting some of the materials I had and only reported a portion.

I thanked the officer and persuaded him and his other colleague to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.

After 44 days of efforts, with Master’s strengthening and fellow practitioners’ support, the persecution that seemed to be severe was completely dissolved.
