(Minghui.org) The International Society for Human Rights (IGFM) in Germany sent a letter to Li Gang, director of the Rizhao City Police Department in Shandong Province, China on July 27, 2023, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Ding Yuande, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Wulian County, Shandong Province.

Letter sent by the International Society for Human Rights (IGFM)

Mr. Hubert Körper, head of the China Affairs Committee of the International Society for Human Rights in Germany, emphasized in the letter, “The 24-year-long persecution of Falun Dafa in China not only violates the Chinese Constitution, it also violates effective international laws.” He also asked Li Gang to forward the letter to Lin Wu, Party Secretary of Shandong Province; Zhang Hui, Party Secretary of Rizhao City, and the director of the Rizhao City Detention Center.

Mr. Ding Yuande Unlawfully Arrested

Mr. Ding Yuande and his wife Ms. Ma Ruimei were arrested on May 12, 2023. Ms. Ma was released on bail pending trial on May 24, but was placed under secret surveillance. Mr. Ding was held in the Rizhao City Detention Center. His family has not been able to see him since the arrest.

The Donggang District Police Department in Rizhao City officially approved Mr. Ding’s arrest on July 20, 2023. They also collaborated with the Donggang District Procuratorate and attempted to further frame and prosecute Mr. Ding.

Each year the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) arrests a large number of practitioners around World Falun Dafa Day on May 13. This year, more than 40 practitioners were arrested in Rizhao City, Shandong Province. The action was ordered directly by the Shandong Provincial Department, according to Minghui.org. Perpetrators who participated in the arrest and whose names were confirmed include Wang Meifeng and Chen Dehua from the 610 Office. Some officers planned to arrest 70 practitioners within one month.

Those who are directly responsible for this large-scale arrest of practitioners in Rizhao City include: Ding Zhaofu, political commissar of the Donggang Police Department; Wang Wensong, director of the Donggang Police Department; Qin Yujing, deputy head of the Domestic Security Division of the Donggang Police Department; and Li Jiang, director of Wulian County Police Department.

International Support

Mr. Ding’s son Mr. Ding Lebin, now living in Germany, has contacted various people and organizations in last two months, calling for the international community to stop the CCP from persecuting his father and other Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

Politicians from the European Parliament, the German Parliament, and the Berlin State Assembly, as well as members of Parliament from Belgium and the Czech Republic, have written to Wu Ken, the CCP’s ambassador to Germany, demanding an immediate end to the persecution of Mr. Ding Lebin’s parents. Many people have called and sent letters to those responsible for the persecution, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Ding.

Mr. Körper mentioned in the letter, “Human rights are universal, inalienable, and indivisible. Citizens of the People’s Republic of China also enjoy such human rights. Mr. Ding Yuande did not violate current Chinese laws. He was simply exercising the internationally guaranteed human right to freedom of belief.”

The letter concluded, “The International Society for Human Rights (IGFM) will pay close attention to Mr. Ding Yuande’s situation, and will work with many politicians to make unswerving efforts for his personal freedom. We strongly urge you to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Ding Yuande.”
