Recalling My Experience Browsing Minghui in the Early Stage of the Persecution

(Minghui.org) At this 24th anniversary of the founding of the Minghui.org website, I’d like to express my most sincere congratulations and gratitude to everyone working for the site. Minghui has been part of my life for 22 years. From a fresh college graduate to a mid-aged professional, Minghui has always provided me with company and help on my Falun Dafa cultivation journey.

It was April 2002 when I first accessed Minghui. I was working in Beijing. My supervisor at work received a letter from a Dafa practitioner, which had information of how to access Minghui. I asked my supervisor for the letter. After all of my colleagues got off from work, I followed the instruction from the letter and tried my luck.

Back then, we used wired telephones to connect to the Internet, and the technology was still primitive. I spent two hours trying different proxy servers that I found online, and finally connected to Minghui. I was extremely excited when I saw Minghui’s front page. I stayed very late to read the website and didn’t close it until the last bus was about to leave.

During those days in Beijing, the air was filled with terror. Day and night, I could hear police cars running around with sirens on, likely arresting practitioners. Every day when I left the office after reading Minghui articles, even when it wasn’t cold, I always shivered and my teeth chattered.

I read Minghui with my work computer every evening, including on the weekends. After a few months, I bought my own computer and learned how to make informational DVDs and print materials. Like many other practitioners, I began to distribute the materials in the evenings in various Beijing neighborhoods.

It became a daily routine for me to read the news from Minghui. From the news, I knew that we practitioners in China weren’t fighting alone. No matter how evil the persecution was or how many difficulties we were facing, there were still so many practitioners outside of China speaking out for us and trying to help us. They still do everything they can to reduce the persecution. It’s also comforting to see that various governments speak up for us and demand that the communist regime stop the persecution. Meanwhile, there are more practitioners who keep raising awareness for Dafa and the persecution inside China, despite the danger they face.

I once read an article on Minghui which asked for help to care for the family of a married couple, both of whom were detained for practicing Dafa. I noticed that the family lived very close to me, so I wrote to Minghui and said that I could help them. I soon received a reply from the Minghui editor, who showed great sympathy and care for me and asked me to pay attention to safety as well.

I was cultivating by myself back then. When the persecution started, I had only been cultivating for three or four months, without a deep understanding of the Fa. At the same time, I was going through many transitions in my life, including getting married, writing a thesis, graduating from college, and finding a job. I was detained for going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, fired from my job, and divorced. I moved from place to place to find jobs. My life was very unstable and I didn’t know any practitioners around me.

When I received the reply from the Minghui editor, I couldn’t describe the feeling of happiness and being supported. I cherished every word they said. Maybe because of safety concerns, the Minghui editor didn’t ask me to provide care to the family mentioned above. But from that point on, I kept in contact with Minghui editors, through all these years, no matter what difficulty I was facing in my life.

Reading Minghui articles gives me courage and strength, especially from the stories of how practitioners persevered through righteous thoughts and righteous actions in the face of unprecedented evil. The miracles they experienced shattered the atheism in me and strengthened my belief in the divine.

Inspired by the sharing articles, I began to recite Zhuan Falun and other Dafa books in 2003 and I have been persisting in doing this for over 20 years.

Minghui publishes new methods to connect to the [uncensored] Internet from time to time, as well as techniques for burning DVDs or printing informational materials. I gradually became proficient in breaking through the internet blockade. After FreeGate and Ultrasurf were developed, I began to use those as well. In the past 22 years, as long as I could use a computer and had a connection to the Internet, I never stopped browsing Minghui, no matter how frenzied the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] went about censoring the Internet.

Like other practitioners, I also submit my cultivation experience and persecution news to Minghui, in order to share with the practitioners around the world and expose the persecution to the international community.

I’m deeply grateful for everything Master has done for us. Recalling the past helps me to cherish what I have today even more. I hope we can all cultivate diligently and finish walking the path arranged by Master.
