Additional Persecution News from China – May 9, 2023 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 28 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jiang Yongjin Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Jiang Yongjin was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the Linghai City Court in late April 2023.

On the morning of September 21, 2022, Mr. Xie Chengyu, Ms. Li Yanling, Ms. Song Wenli, and Mr. Jiang Yongjin were arrested by officers from the Linghe District Police Department, the Linghe District Domestic Security Division, and the Zijing Police Station.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Jingfang Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Ms. Liu Jingfang from Xiejiashan Village, Xitiangezhuang Town, Miyun County, was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in September 2022. She was arrested and held in the Miyun County Detention Center. It was reported that she was sentenced to two years in prison.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Guizhen Faces Prosecution

Fangzi District practitioner Ms. Xu Guizhen’s case was recently sent by the Fangzi District Domestic Security Division to the procuratorate for prosecution.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Pan and Wife Ms. Wang Arrested

Mr. Pan and his wife Ms. Wang, were arrested in their rented apartment in the Xinghua Residential Community, Beihu Sub-district, Changchun New Area. Mr. Pan is a retired school principal. Both he and his wife are around 70 years old. Their home was ransacked. The couple is being held in the Weizigou Detention Center.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Ping Arrested

Ms. Chen Ping from Yubei District was arrested and her home was ransacked by Yubei District police between October and December 2022. The officers confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong, supplies, and equipment. Ms. Chen’s whereabouts are unknown.

6. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Yanhui Held in Detention Center

Mr. Wang Yanhui from Qingyuan District was arrested by the police station director when he went to the Yangcheng Town Police Station in Qingyuan District to file a complaint on May 4, 2023. Mr. Wang is being held in the Baoding City Detention Center.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Li Zhijie, Liu Chunjie, and Meng Qingxia, who is 70 years old, were arrested by officers from the Faku County Domestic Security Division and the Shiqiao Police Station on April 21 and April 22, 2023. They were held in the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Meng suffered from various illnesses, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. She was forced to take medicine every day, and her physical condition is worrisome.

8. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Han Qiuli Arrested

About 16 people from the Hujiamiao Police Station and the community management office in the Xincheng District broke into Ms. Han Qiuli’s home and pried open her cabinets while ransacking the place on the afternoon of May 5, 2023. They took a camera and 3,000 yuan in pension payments that belonged to her husband. They confiscated four Falun Gong books, three booklets, two audio players, one cell phone, and a computer. Ms. Han was taken to the police station. Around 1 a.m. that night, the police released her, and her husband’s pension payments and camera were also returned.

9. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Ms. He Jianing Arrested

Ms. He Jianing was stopped by officers in two police vehicles while driving on the Anxin Line and was taken to the Tianjiazhuang Township Police Station on May 2, 2023. The next afternoon, Ms. He was taken to the Yuxiangjie Detention Center, where she has been held.

10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Nie Xue and three other practitioners were followed by officers from the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division when they read the Falun Gong teachings on April 20, 2023. Officers from the Kunming Street Police Station arrested them and ransacked their homes. All four practitioners have returned home.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Yue Chunhua and Ms. Zhang Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Yue Chunhua, 65, and Ms. Zhang Guizhen, 76, from the Shapingba District, went to the farmers market on April 19, 2023. They were followed and arrested by plainclothes officers. Their homes were ransacked. They were taken to the Xietaizi Police Station in Jiulongpo District for interrogation. Ms. Zhang was released the next day. Ms. Yue was taken to the Huayan Public Order Detention Center in Jiulongpo District for 10 days of custody. She was released on April 30.

12. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Guiqin, Ms. Bao Zhiying, and Ms. Zhang Shuiying were reported to the police by two middle school students when they were telling people about Falun Gong on the street in downtown Macheng City on May 6, 2023. They were arrested and taken to the Macheng City Detention Center by officers from the Gulou Police Station. Ms. Zhang’s blood pressure reading was as high as 200 mm Hg during the physical examination, and her family took her home around 11 p.m.

13. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zang Shuli from Yushu Village, Xinxing Town, Dawa County, and Mr. Wang Guohui and his wife from Xinxing Town, were arrested around May 2, 2023.

14. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Arrested

Ms. Zhao, whose first name contains the Chinese character Xia, of Baoshan Mine is in her 50s. On May 1, 2023, she was arrested while she distributed Falun Gong materials, and her home was ransacked.
