(Minghui.org) A 69-year-old woman in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, was sentenced to four years with a 5,000-yuan fine on June 7, 2022, for passing out informational materials about Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhao Zhongrong’s verdict was handed down by the Liwan District Court, which, together with the Liwan District Procuratorate, has been designated to prosecute Falun Gong cases in the Districts of Baiyun, Yuexiu, Liwan, Nansha, and Huadu in Guangzhou to speed up the sentencing process. According to the Liwan District Procuratorate’s annual reports, they indicted seven practitioners in 2019 and 24 in 2020.
Ms. Zhao, a 69-year-old native of Anda City, Heilongjiang Province, was reported on April 5, 2021, for distributing Falun Gong materials in the Nansha District. The police arrested her at home on June 8. The Nansha District Procuratorate approved her arrest on July 16. She was indicted on August 27, 2021, and her case was moved to the Liwan District Court.
