Additional Persecution News from China – July 31, 2022 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 29 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Shoufen Tried

The Ganjingzi Court tried Ms. Yu Shoufen virtually without notifying her lawyer or family on July 21, 2022.

Ms. Yu, from the Zhongshan District, was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong in Haibin Park in Fujiazhuang on February 9, 2022. She has been held in the Yaojia Detention Center since then.

2. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zhang Chunqiu Transferred to Prison

Mr. Zhang Chunqiu was recently transferred from the Loudi City Detention Center to the Wangling Prison. So far, his family has received no information about him.

3. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Liu Officially Arrested

Five or six officers broke into Ms. Yang Liu’s home and arrested her on June 29, 2022. They then ransacked the place and confiscated her computer and Falun Gong materials.

Ms. Yang was detained in the Zhuhai Police Station for a month. She was officially arrested and transferred to an unknown place in the Chengyang District on July 29, 2022.

4. [Laoling City, Shandong Province] More Than 10 Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Laoling City Police Department Domestic Security Division and various local police stations arrested more than ten practitioners on July 21, 2022, including two from Yanshan City, Hebei Province. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated all their personal belongings related to Falun Gong.

Mr. Huang Shaolong is the only caregiver of his mother, who is in her 80s. After Mr. Huang was taken away she has no one to care for her.

Ms. Du Lianhong’s husband was pressured to sign paperwork when he went to the Domestic Security Division to ask that his wife be released.

Ms. Zhang Guirong’s husband was handcuffed for over an hour when he stopped them from ransacking his home. Ms. Zhang was denied family visits.

5. [Beijing] Three Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Changping District Police Department and local police stations arrested three practitioners, including Zhang Lei (gender unknown), a practitioner surnamed Li, and one whose identity is unknown. They were taken to the Changping District Detention Center and held there.

6. [Beijing] Mr. Wu Zhiming Arrested

Mr. Wu Zhiming from the Changping District was recently arrested and taken to the Shunyi District.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Huimin and Her Husband Arrested

Officers from the Jinggou Police Station in Gaomi City arrested Ms. Li Huimin and her husband on June 24, 2022.

8. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang and His Daughters Arrested

Mr. Wang, 77, was searched at the Qinhuangdao Railway Station on his way back to Songyuan City from his relatives’ home in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. The officers confiscated bills printed with Falun Gong information and a new laptop. Mr. Wang and his three daughters were all arrested.

The police took Mr. Wang and his three daughters to Changchun City. They stayed there overnight and searched one of his daughter’s homes there.

The police then ransacked Mr. Wang’s home. They confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, a cell phone, audio players, and some bills printed with Falun Gong information. Mr. Wang was released that day.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Shi Xiaolan Arrested

Officers from the local police station arrested Ms. Shi Xiaolan from her rental home in the Jiuxianqiao area of Chaoyang District on July 28, 2022. They then ransacked the place.

The police pressured the owner to ask Ms. Shi’s family to move out within five days.

10. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Xiaoling Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiaoling, from the Hedong District, was arrested by officers from the Tangkou Police Station in April 2022. Her home was ransacked.

11. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Huo Shouchun’s Home Ransacked

Officers from the Panzhuang Police Station, led by village secretary Huo Kerong, broke into Ms. Huo Shouchun’s home on July 29, 2022.

They tore down the couplets (which were related to Falun Gong) and searched the bedding as soon as they entered the place. They confiscated a laptop computer, Falun Gong books, USB drives, and some Falun Gong materials.

12. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Hong Yun Carpet Factory Closed by Police

The Hongyun Carpet Factory in Wendeng District was founded and operated by a Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tian Shihong. Mr. Tian was persecuted to death in 2019.

More than 100 police from the Wendeng Police Department went to the factory on July 20, 2022. They searched the place inside and out. Ms. Li Shuhong, Ms. Liu Mingming and Ms. Tian Lisha, Ms. Tian Tian, and a worker were arrested. Ms. Tian Tian and the worker were released after 48 hours and 12 hours of detention.

Police shut the factory down on July 21, 2022. Officers from the 610 Office were on duty at the factory until July 26. The police patrolled the factory. The owner and workers were interrogated many times. Slogans defaming Falun Gong were put up everywhere inside the factory.

The factory accountant’s computer was confiscated, thus the factory couldn’t pay the workers’ wages. All the factory’s confidential business information, including the orders that the production line was about to produce, was released to the company’s competitors.

13. [Xining City, Qinghai Province] Mr. Wei Jinlu’s Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Wei Jinlu, from the Shengwuyuan District, has been missing since July 2021. His current whereabouts are unknown.

14. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Yuping Arrested

Seven people from the Zhanqian Road Police Station, the Zhanqian Road Street Management Office, and the Longling Neighborhood Committee, led by Jiang Zhixiang, the head of the Zhanqian Street 610 Office, arrested Ms. Chen Yuping at her home on July 27, 2022. Ms. Chen was taken to the Zhanqian Road Police Station and detained there.

They pressured Ms. Chen to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Chen was released that afternoon.

15. [Xifeng County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Shao Wentao Arrested

Officers from the Xifeng County Police Station arrested Mr. Shao Wentao while he was at work on July 28, 2022. Mr. Shao has been held in the local detention center since then.

16. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Wang Xiuzhi Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiuzhi from Balinzuoqi was arrested at the Lindong Railway Station on July 10, 2022. She has been held in the Barin Detention Center.

17. [Beijing] Ms. Li Xuan Arrested

Officers from the Changping District Police Department and local police station arrested Ms. Li Xuan on July 27, 2022. Her whereabouts are unknown.

18. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Ji Ruiling, in his 70s, was arrested by officers from the local police station on July 18, 2022. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated his printer, Falun Gong books, and cash. Mr. Ji was taken to the Kaiyuan Police Station and then transferred to the Handan City No. 2 Detention Center. Mr. Ji’s family and his lawyer went to the detention center on July 29th, but they were not allowed to see him.

Mr. Liu Yantao, 35, visited a practitioner who lived at 5 Luochengtou West Street and was arrested by plainclothes police who waited there on July 18, 2022. Mr. Liu’s phone calls had been monitored and recorded.

Mr. Niu Fuguo was arrested at his home in Beixiangyi Township, Cheng’an County, on July 14, 2022. He was pressured to sign a guarantee statement to promise to stop talking to people about Falun Gong. Mr. Niu was forced to have a physical exam on July 15 and was held in the Cheng’an County Detention Center.

19. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Shuang Faces Indictment

Ms. Wu Shuang, 57, was followed and located by telephone by officers from the Shuilu Police Station, the Chenglingji Port in 2021. The police station is under the Yueyang Branch of the Yangtze River Shipping Police Department.

She was arrested when she was having dinner with a friend, and her home was ransacked.

The Yueyang Police Department submitted the case against her to the Pingjiang Procuratorate on July 25, 2022.
