Additional Persecution News from China – July 12, 2022 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Pengzhou City, Sicuan Province] Ms. Qing Liju and Mr. Chen Zhongguo Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Ms. Qing Liju from Pengzhou City and Mr. Chen Zhongguo from Guanghan City were tried on June 21, 2022 by the Pengzhou Court in Sichuan Province. They were both sentenced to 5 years in prison. Ms. Qing has been sent to the Qionglai Prison in Sichuan Province. Mr. Chen requested to appeal to the higher court against the verdict. He is likely being held in the Chengdu City Detention Center right now. Mr. Chen’s pension has been unlawfully suspended. The authorities also extorted over 10,000 yuan from him.

2. [Beijing] Feng Yingjun Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Feng Yingjun from Beijing was arrested at home at the end of April, 2021. It was recently learned that he was sentenced and imprisoned.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Wei and Her Husband Arrested; Their Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Lu Wei and her husband Mr. Fu Minhua from Harbin City were arrested at home on July 11, 2022. Their home was ransacked. Their whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Han Gongying’s Pension Seized

Ms. Han Gongying and Ms. Yang Jie were reported to police in April, 2020 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from the Tai’an Road Police Station. They were released the same day.

The case against them was brought to the Wulian Procuratorate a year later, then to the court. They were both sentenced to 18 months in prison. Ms. Yang was brought to the Jinan Prison in Shandong Province. Ms. Han was to serve her term outside of prison due to her old age (74 years old). The Wulian Court authorities demanded that Ms. Han hand over 5,000 yuan, but she refused. An agent from the Wulian Court took 5,000 yuan from Ms. Han’s pension bank account on July 4, 2022.

5. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Frequently Harass and Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners

A female practitioner’s mother’s home was ransacked on July 10, 2022. Officers seized cell phones and all the Falun Gong books. A male practitioner, in his 40s, was arrested by officers from the Jiangnan No. 2 Police Station the same day. His home was ransacked and his car was taken.

Four practitioners from the Yangming District were arrested on July 11, 2022. Two were released the same day. Ms. Zhu Yanhua is one of the practitioners who was not released that day.

Officers recently went to Ms. Zhu Yanhua’s home almost every evening. Each time they remained at her home for over 10 hours and did not allow her husband to leave. Her husband was followed when he went out during the day.

Officers from the Hailin Police Department Domestic Security Division and various police stations in Hailin arrested multiple practitioners in Hailin around 6 a.m. on July 11, 2022. Ms. Zhou Huifang, Ms. Li Jinying, Ms. Fu Zhaocui and Ms. Fu Xuefei are among the arrested practitioners. Ms. Li Jinying is being held in the Hailin Detention Center for 7 days.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Guanghui Arrested

Ms. Zhou Guanghui from Harbin City was arrested at home on July 11, 2022. The reason she was arrested and her current situation are unclear.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Cao Yanming and Ms. Huang Jingjie Harassed

Four officers from the Xinli Police Station broke the lock and charged into Mr. Cao Yanming’s home and attempted to arrest him on July 9, 2022. Ms. Cao was not at home and thus avoided the arrest.

Three officers from the Xicheng Police Station, including director Zhou Changlin, knocked on the door of Ms. Huang Jingjie’s home and forced their way in on July 11, 2022. They rummaged through the place, seized a notebook that had a list of Falun Gong book titles written on it, and attempted to arrest Ms. Huang.

Ms. Huang was frightened and fainted. After many years of repeated harassment, living in a state of anxiety and mental pressure, her health has deteriorated. Officers called the emergency number and she was rushed to a hospital. Her family has now brought her home from the hospital.

8. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Lieyun Persecuted

Ms. Tian Lieyun was brought to the village committee from the Mengyin County Brainwashing Center on June 30, 2022, and a committee staff took her home. Subsequently, three agents, including Yedian Town 610 Office director Guo Zaixue and officers from the Yedian Town Police Station, brought a locksmith to open the door to Ms. Tian’s house. They searched her house for over an hour and then left. After they left she realized that over 10,000 yuan was missing. The theft was reported to the Yedian Town Police Station but no police came to investigate. The whereabouts of the money is unknown.

9. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Su Guiqing Arrested and Held

Ms. Su Guiqing was arrested and has been held for almost a week.

10. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuling Arrested

Ms. Wang Yuling was arrested by officers from the Hongshan Town Police Station in early July, 2022.

11. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhang Renfu Missing

No one has heard from Mr. Zhang Renfu since June 20, 2022.

12. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Xiufeng Arrested

Ms. Liu Xiufeng was arrested for talking about Falun Gong on July 7, 2022. She is being held in the Tangyuan Detention Center. The details are being investigated.

13. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Fu Jing Harassed

Deputy director Hou Xinzhu and another officer from the Xinhua Police Station went to Ms. Fu Jing’s workplace to harass her on July 11, 2022. The officer was wearing a body camera which was turned on. Hou asked Ms. Fu whether she still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Fu refused to answer.

14. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhao Ximin Arrested

Officers from the Liujia Town Police Station searched Mr. Zhao Ximin’s home around 7 a.m. on July 5, 2022. When they did not find anything, they took him to the Liujia Town Police Station. They asked Mr. Zhao to sign a paper, but he refused. His son brought him home the same day.

15. [Beijing] Mr. Liu Youping Arrested and Home Ransacked

Six officers including Zhou Lie from the Shiliuyuan Police Station barged into Mr. Liu Youping’s home and arrested him on June 16, 2022, because he talked about Falun Gong in a park on May 31, 2022. His home was ransacked and his private properties were seized including 19 copies of Falun Gong books, a music player and a USB drive. Mr. Liu was held for 24 hours and then released.

Three agents from the Dahongmen Street Community Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the local police station and the Nandingcun Residential Quarters Neighborhood Committee barged into Mr. Liu’s home on July 5, 2022, and demanded he sign a repentance statement that defames Falun Gong. Mr. Liu refused.

16. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Hua and Her Husband Officially Arrested

Ms. Chen Hua, 63, is a retired employee from the Lingyuan Iron and Steel Corporation. Her husband Mr. Hao Zhiqiang, 64, is former chairman of the Board of the Lingyuan Iron and Steel Corporation. 

Officers from the Chaoyang City Police Department and the Kazuo County Police Department barged into their home and seized their belongings including Falun Gong books on June 1, 2022. The couple was subsequently arrested on their way back home and held at a hotel in Kazuo County. They were later subjected to criminal detention and sent to a detention center on June 9, 2022.

The case against Ms. Chen and her husband Mr. Hao has been submitted to the Kazuo County Procuratorate and their arrests were officially approved.

17. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hou Changmin Arrested

Ms. Hou Changmin was reported to the police on June 29, 2022, by the person to whom she gave a card containing a QR code that leads to site with information about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Beizhudao Police Station. Officers confiscated two copies of Minghui Weekly, several cards with QR codes and her elderly bus pass from her bag. They called in Ms. Hou’s son at noon and recorded his personal information. They then had her son sit in a police vehicle and drove to their home and searched it. Staff from the Haitian Community Committee also followed the police and went to Ms. Hou’s home. They only found two New Year’s pictures on the wall that had information about Falun Gong. They left without moving anything.

Police brought Ms. Hou to the Weihai City Orthopedic Hospital for an examination in order to detain her for 15 days. Ms. Hou failed the examination and was released the same day.

18. [Shaoyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Aihua Arrested

Ms. Liu Aihua from Shaoyang City was arrested in Shaoyang City by officers from Changsha City on July 7, 2022. Her whereabouts are unknown.

19. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhang Yali Missing

Ms. Zhang Yali, born in 1956, has not been heard from since June 22, 2022.

20. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Cheng Guifang Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Cheng Guifang was taken to a brainwashing center on June 29, 2022 by officers from the Majiaping Police Station and agents from the Dongshan Community Committee. She managed to escape from the brainwashing center on July 6. Her whereabouts are unknown.
