(Minghui.org) The past 23 years in China were no ordinary times. While everything appeared normal with the usual hustle and bustle in society, a large number of innocent people were being detained and tortured for their faith inside the detention centers, labor camps, and prisons.
They are practitioners of Falun Gong, a meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, numerous practitioners have been targeted for striving to be good citizens. Many detained practitioners were subjected to physical torture, forced labor, mental abuse, involuntary drug administration, and even forced organ harvesting.

The victims of the persecution are not limited to practitioners. Through brainwashing with hate propaganda, the CCP has turned government employees against innocent practitioners. In an ordinary society, law enforcement, procuratorates, courts, and other government agencies are obligated to serve the people and safeguard their rights. In China, however, police could arrest Falun Gong practitioners, procuratorates could indict practitioners, courts could sentence practitioners, and detention facilities could torture practitioners, all at will. These perpetrators involved in the persecution are not only harming practitioners, but also casting a gloomy future for themselves.
Through consistent efforts from practitioners, some perpetrators have learned what Falun Gong really is and understood the persecution is groundless. They in turn have chosen to help innocent practitioners out of conscience.
A Police Officer
Ming is a police officer and he used to participate in the suppression against practitioners. But practitioners still treated him with kindness and kept sharing with him their positive experiences with Falun Gong. Gradually, he felt the compassion from practitioners and recognized that it is the CCP that has been lying and slandering practitioners.
Once higher officials asked Ming to arrest a local practitioner.
“He is a good person and I will not do that,” Ming replied. Higher officials said someone else would then be dispatched to arrest the practitioner. Worried about the practitioner, Ming notified him in advance. He left home before the other officers showed up to arrest him.
A Prosecutor
Qiang is the brother of a practitioner’s wife. He works as a prosecutor of the local procuratorate.
In the past, whenever the practitioner brought up the topics of Falun Gong and urged Qiang to stop participating in the persecution, he would yell, “The CCP gives me money and I have to follow it closely.”
When visiting his sister and brother-in-law later, Qiang said quite a few of his fellow prosecutors and judges (the courthouse is in the same building as their procuratorate) died miserably one after another in recent years. The deceased all had actively persecuted Falun Gong.
Qiang’s brother-in-law explained how the CCP had made up lies to slander Falun Gong and later submitted the retribution stories to Minghui.org.
Qiang later said to his brother-in-law that the article submitted to Minghui was well written and now almost everyone at his workplace was aware of it. “Right now, almost no one in the local procuratorate is willing to work on Falun Gong cases,” he said, “In fact, I do believe the persecution would stop soon – it is just a matter of time.”
A Judge
On May 25, 2015, the Huaiyang Court in Henan Province held a retrial against practitioner Mr. Wang Xianhuai, who had been sentenced to three years for upholding his faith. After his appeal, the local appeals court ordered a retrial. The same judge, Ma Jun, who sentenced him in the initial trial, again presided over the retrial.
Mr. Wang’s attorney defended his innocence for about 10 minutes. Ma then asked, “Do you want us to send you home or your family can come pick you up?” “I can take a taxi home,” Mr. Wang replied.
In the end his family came pick him up.
Because of the pressure from the 610 Office, most retrial cases against Falun Gong practitioners end up with the practitioners receiving the same sentence as the original verdict. Mr. Wang’s case was a very rare one.
A Judicial Officer
A male practitioner’s sister Lan works as a judicial officer responsible for prisons. One day she fell ill and was very uncomfortable. Her brother explained that those who persecuted Falun Gong practitioners would face consequences. He also said her name, as well as those of many prison guards and officials had been exposed on Minghui. She was worried and regretful. Her brother then told her to recite the phrases of “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” She agreed.
During the conversation, Lan’s husband Liang, who works in a prison, also agreed to quit the CCP. The couple also apologized in writing for what they had done in the past against Falun Gong and practitioners.
After that, Lan miraculously recovered. Liang was scheduled to be promoted to be a deputy director of the prison, but he turned down the opportunity. “Being a prison deputy director will more or less get involved in the persecution of Falun Gong,” Lan explained, “Although giving up that opportunity means our income would be a little lower than otherwise, we think it is worthwhile because safety and happiness is more important.”
Name List from a PLAC Party Secretary
Mei is a practitioner and she once joined her husband and his friends in hiking. A county Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) Party Secretary was one of the friends on the hiking trip.
“How come you are so athletic?” the PLAC Party Secretary asked Mei.
“Because I practice Falun Gong,” Mei answered, “You may not know that I was bedridden for nearly 6 months due to illness. Falun Gong gave me a second life!”
“I did not know Falun Gong is so good,” said the party secretary. Mei then talked about the physical benefits and moral improvement she gained by practicing Falun Gong. She also gave the party secretary a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party along with other Falun Gong materials. Both the party secretary and his driver quit the CCP organizations.
After some time, the party secretary visited Mei again and gave her a piece of paper with a name list of more than 10 people who had agreed to quit the CCP organizations. From the book and materials, the party secretary not only learned how bad the CCP is, he also successfully convinced some family members and friends to sever ties with the CCP too.
A 610 Office Agent
Dong is a practitioner in his 80s. Once he handed a copy of Falun Gong materials to a man in his 50s, hoping him to know facts of Falun Gong. Influenced by the CCP’s slandering propaganda, however, the man grabbed Dong and said he would call the 610 Office.
The man dialed a number and said, “There is a Falun Gong practitioner giving out materials here.”
Because the phone’s speaker was on, Dong could hear the conversation. “A Falun Gong practitioner giving out materials? So what? It’s not your business. Right?”
The man was stunned and did not say anything. He put the cell phone back to his pocket and left.
