The “Zero-out” Campaign in Jinzhong Prison, Shanxi Province

(Minghui.org) Ever since the Chinese Communist Party initiated the “Zero-out” campaign in early 2020 to force every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s list to renounce their faith, the authorities in Jinzhong Prison in Shanxi Province have aggressively carried out the policy on practitioners in that prison.

Under orders from warden Zhang Wenping and deputy warden Li Liangjun, and supervised by deputy director of the education department Zhang Guodong, a new round of torture was implemented targeting the Falun Gong practitioners on September 16, 2020.

The practitioners were only allowed one steamed bun per meal. Any food they’d bought previously was confiscated. Those who refused to renounce Falun Gong were held in solitary confinement, forced to stand facing the wall for long hours, or hung up by their wrists and beaten. Even when some practitioners gave in to the torture and were forced to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong, the guards further ordered them to verbally abuse Falun Gong before the torture was stopped.

Mr. Guo Guangzhong, who is in the 10th ward, was stripped of his winter coat and left in only his undershirt and underpants. In addition to the above-mentioned torture, the guards also force-fed him urine and shocked him with electric batons.

In the 14th ward, Mr. Li Yong has been forced to stand every day since November 2021. He isn’t allowed to call his family.

Another practitioner in the 7th ward reported that guard Yan Yugang confiscated his Falun Gong books on January 15, 2022.
