(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Daye City, Hubei Province] Ms. Peng Jizhen Arrested

Ms. Peng Jizhen, 47, was arrested at her rented home late at night on May 6, 2022, by over 20 people from Daye City Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the local police station. She was taken to a brainwashing center, the location of which was not given to her family. Her family was not allowed to visit her.

A group of people went to Ms. Peng’s home in late 2021 to harass her family. They even went to her child’s school to harass her child. They claimed they were holding a brainwashing session in Huangshi City, which is the next higher administrative division above Daye City.

Ms. Peng had previously been taken to a forced labor camp in 2002.

2. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Kou Lirong and Ms. Ma Yinhuan Arrested

Ms. Kou Lirong from the Yinlong Residential Community, Chang’an District, was arrested at work by officers from the High-tech Zone Police Department on May 9, 2022. Her home was ransacked. At the same time, Ms. Ma Yinhuan was also arrested and her home ransacked. Both practitioners were taken to a police station in the High-tech Zone. Their whereabouts are unknown.

3. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Guihua and Ms. Sun Changzhi Arrested

Ms. Liu Guihua and Ms. Sun Changzhi from Guyuan County were arrested by Domestic Security officers while talking to people about Falun Gong at around 3 p.m. on May 14, 2022. They were taken to the Guyuan County Police Department. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated numerous Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

4. [Tianjin] Ms. Yang Xiuying Harassed

A residential officer from the Changhong Police Station in Nankai District, along with three other people, broke into Ms. Yang Xiuying’s home on the afternoon of May 12, 2022. They confiscated desk calendars and other personal belongings. Her normal life was disrupted.

5. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xiuling Harassed

Two officers from the Panzhuang Town Police Station went to Ms. Li Xiuling’s home at around 11:30 on May 13, 2022. Ms. Li did not let them in, and they left after saying a few words at the door. One officer was carrying a body camera, and the other was in plainclothes.

6. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Wei Arrested

Ms. Liu Wei from Rongcheng City was arrested by Wang Guangmin and other officers from Rong’an Police Station at around 9:30 a.m. on May 7, 2022. Without a search warrant or any evidence, the officers broke into the storefront where she was working and ransacked the place.

They confiscated numerous Falun Gong books, a couple of Falun Gong keepsakes, a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, two booklets, a computer, one iPhone, and one plastic sealing machine. Officer Feng forced her to put her fingerprint on some paperwork. Afterwards, seven or eight people took Ms. Liu to her mother-in-law’s home, ransacked the place, and confiscated a desk calendar.

The officers took Ms. Liu to the police station for questioning. They also took her husband and sister to the police station for investigation. The officers there scolded her loudly and forced her to sign the interrogation transcript. Ms. Liu went home at 3 p.m. The officers told her that she had been reported for talking to a young man about Falun Gong in February.

Two officers delivered a ten-day detention notice at 4:00 p.m. on May 12. They shouted loudly, and threatened and demanded that Ms. Liu sign the paperwork. She was told that her detention was postponed due to the COVID pandemic.

7. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liao Xiaohong Repeatedly Harassed

Since last year, the Chenzhou City 610 Office has ordered staff members in various residential communities to visit and harass Falun Gong practitioners. The staff members knocked on practitioners’ doors and pressured them to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.

Mr. Liao Xiaohong was excessively harassed, and he had to stay away from his home to avoid persecution. When the community management office staff members could not find him, they harassed his family instead.

8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Qingfang Arrested

Ms. Wang Qingfang was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from a police station in the Development Zone on February 18, 2022. She was taken to a detention center on February 20. The detention center refused to admit her due to high blood pressure. She was released on bail. She refused to sign the paperwork, but her family signed on her behalf.

9. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Zenghua Harassed

Two young men broke into Ms. Yang Zenghua’s home in Dayuan Village, Fuping Town, Fuping County, while she was reading a book at 10 a.m. on May 11, 2022. One went straight to the room by the courtyard, and the other broke into her room. They ransacked the place but left without finding what they were looking for. When Ms. Yang asked who they were they said that they were from the county police department.

10. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

The Zhongchuan Plaza in downtown Suining City has been under police surveillance since the morning of May 13, 2022. At around 9 a.m. that day, local police officers, Domestic Security officers, and staff members from the community management office broke into Ms. Yi Qiongying’s home, ransacked the place, and arrested her. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, music players, MP3 players, about 7,400 yuan in cash, and about 80 yuan in paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them.

At the same time, Ms. Luo Yunxiang, Ms. Wang Qiong, Ms. Yang Rong, and Ms. Wang Qiongying, all in their 70s, came to attend the “May 13 Celebration of World Falun Dafa Day.” The police searched them and confiscated their Falun Gong books and cash. The police also ransacked the four practitioners’ homes. It’s not clear what items were confiscated by the officers. The four practitioners were taken to the police station and released between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. that afternoon.

Ms. Yi and her husband agreed that she would be released on bail. She was released after 6:00 p.m. Officers at the police station threatened her husband that they would keep an eye on her.

11. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cai Xiuzhi Harassed

Officers from the Liugai Town Police Station broke into Ms. Cai Xiuzhi’s home on May 13, 2022. They videotaped and ransacked the place. They did not find anything they were looking for.

The officers later told Ms. Cai to go to the police station. Ms. Cai decided to use the opportunity to clarify the truth to them, so she went to the station and told them more about Falun Gong.

12. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Practitioners’ Homes Ransacked

When Falun Gong practitioners around the world celebrated the 30th anniversary of Falun Gong’s introduction, the homes of elderly Ms. Li, elderly Ms. Fan and four other practitioners were ransacked by police and community management staff members.

Liu Renshan, a team leader of Jianxin Community, led a group of people to Ms. Li’s cigarette and liquor store. They took away her only copy of Zhuan Falun and some printed materials. Five people broke into elderly Ms. Fan’s home, and confiscated anything related to Falun Gong.

Du Zhao, a team leader of the Huanggang City Domestic Security Division, led a group of people into elderly Ms. Zhao’s home in Baota Community. She was not at home at the time. These people then went to her son’s storefront and coerced the young couple to return home. The officers ransacked every room in their three-story house. The officers wanted to smash a few locked doors, but were stopped by Ms. Zhao’s daughter-in-law.

The next day, the officers took Ms. Zhao’s son and daughter-in-law to the police department for a talk and to sign paperwork. Her son refused to sign it on Ms. Zhao’s behalf. Her non-practitioner daughter-in-law signed instead.
