(Minghui.org) May 13, 2022, is the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the world as well as the 23rd World Falun Dafa Day. Coinciding with the birthday of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa, this date is widely celebrated in many countries around the world. Because of its mental and physical benefits, Falun Dafa has received over 5,500 awards and proclamations, worldwide, over the years.
This year, many members of the Taiwan Legislative Council made speeches to recognize this special date and thanked Mr. Li for the positive impact of Falun Dafa. They also praised practitioners for their courage and perseverance despite the suppression by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They hope the persecution will end soon.

The Power of Compassion
“Happy Birthday, Master Li and thank you for bringing us Falun Dafa!” said Kao Chia-yu. Impressed by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she said the practice has improved moral values and changed the world for the better.

Ms. Kao noted that through the years practitioners have shown kindness while telling people about the persecution. “They are very brave and determined,” she said, “This is because of their faith and values. They have demonstrated the power of compassion and shared it around the world.”
“I think we should all learn from Falun Dafa practitioners because of their moral guidance, which is something that China needs right now,” she explained. She hopes practitioners will continue doing this and expose the CCP’s brutality. This will help more people to know what is going on.
Making the World a Better Place
“We wish Mr. Li a Happy Birthday. We also hope Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will illuminate the dark places under totalitarian rule and make the world a better place,” said Wang Ting-yu, Legislative member and chairman of the Taiwan Parliamentary Human Rights Commission.

As a long-time supporter of Falun Dafa, Mr. Wang said he and other officials admire practitioners’ spirit and perseverance, especially during the severe persecution by the CCP including forced organ harvesting.
Mr. Wang explained that many of his friends practice Falun Dafa. “They have great and positive attitudes,” he explained. “Some practitioners who work in the media were attacked by CCP agents, but still persist in bringing people the truth. This further highlights their strong determination.”
Great Accomplishments
Chao Tien-lin thanked Falun Dafa for embracing traditional culture and positive values. “In fact, practitioners have made great accomplishments improving culture around the world. Because of their faith, however, practitioners are suppressed in China. Some of them were detained or harassed with financial loss and even death.”

Mr. Chao said that is why he respects practitioners for their determination in the past 20-plus years. He hopes the persecution in China will end soon so more people can hear about the practice.
Liu Chien-kuo said he has attended some events held by Falun Dafa practitioners. Having witnessed the power of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he knows these principles are important for this world. He and other officials are impressed by this and hope more people will pay attention to the persecution in China. This will bring the suppression in China to an end so that basic human rights there can be restored.

Learning the Facts
Chen Jiau-hua, legislative member and chairperson of the New Power Party, said Falun Dafa has brought the world peace. “But such a peaceful meditation practice is persecuted by the CCP and this is absolutely wrong.” She is moved by practitioners’ courage and hopes the persecution ends soon.

Ms. Chen pointed out that practitioners who work in the media work hard to bring people the facts. She said this shows how important it is for the Taiwan government as well as citizens to support Falun Dafa and oppose the brutality.
Seeking Truth
As a Legislative Council member, Freddy Lim Tshiong-tso is also Vice Chairperson of Human Rights Commission and a former chair of Amnesty International Taiwan. He said that many of his friends practice Falun Dafa and they are peaceful, sincere, and work hard to let people know the truth.

While working with Falun Dafa practitioners in the past on human rights issues, Mr. Lim found they are doing it not only for themselves, but also for society. He said the information provided by Falun Dafa practitioners is very valuable and he really wants to thank them for their efforts.
A Memorable Occasion

Tsai Shih-ying wished Mr. Li a Happy Birthday and congratulated him and practitioners on the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the world. “May 13 is a special occasion and we should cherish it,” he said, “People in China should also have the freedom to practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

“Falun Dafa has greatly improved people’s minds and bodies and uplifts society,” said Hsu Chih-chieh, another Legislative member, “That is why I want to thank Falun Dafa. The practice is very beneficial to society.”

Tsai Yi-yu said Falun Dafa’s teachings have shown people how to be better citizens. “The CCP has been suppressing freedom of belief and persecuting Falun Dafa – the world cannot accept this,” he added.

Human rights lawyer Chiu Hsien-chih is also a member of the Legislative Council and a leader of the New Power Party. He said Falun Dafa practitioners have worked very hard to expose the CCP’s brutality. This is similar to what happened in history in which people safeguarded their faith.
“Practitioners’ perseverance gives us a hope and will make a difference,” he explained. “From what happened in the past, we know religious freedom and the spirit of forbearance are very important.”
