(Minghui.org) A Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province resident was sentenced to three years in early 2022 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

It’s only known that Ms. Gu Xiufang, 66, was arrested in late 2021. Other details about her recent sentencing aren’t clear.

Ms. Gu used to suffer tuberculosis and many other diseases, all of which disappeared after she took up Falun Gong. With the onset of the persecution, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice her faith. She also persisted in distributing informational materials to raise awareness about the persecution. As a result, she was arrested at least 12 times and given four labor camp terms for a total of seven years.

In the past four years, Ms. Gu was repeatedly arrested and had her Falun Gong books and other items confiscated.

Officer Liu Wei of the Nanwai Police Station and four other plainclothes officers broke into Ms. Gu’s home on November 14, 2018. As she wasn’t home, they searched around and took away her copy of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong.

Ms. Gu was putting up banners about Falun Gong in a park on July 31, 2019 when a security guard spotted her and called in police to arrest her. Zhu Fangming and another officer from the Domestic Security Office interrogated her about who made the banners. She remained silent. As the Ganzhou City Detention Center refused to admit her, Ms. Gu was released in the evening.

Ms. Gu had gone to bed on September 21, 2019, when several plainclothes officers suddenly broke in at 11 p.m. They dragged her out of bed and handcuffed her wrists behind her back. Several of her Falun Gong books, calendars with information about Falun Gong, her contact book and 400 yuan in cash were confiscated. She was first interrogated at the police station and then taken to the hospital the next afternoon for a physical examination. As she was denied admission by the Ganzhou City Detention Center again, the police sent her home hours later.

The police arrested Ms. Gu at home again on February 3, 2020 and ransacked her place. She was interrogated and briefly held at a detention center.

A group of four police assistants began to monitor Ms. Gu around the clock outside of her apartment on May 14, 2020. The surveillance continued until July 2. On July 8, officer Zhong Hang of the Domestic Security Officer ransacked her home and took away her Falun Gong books and media player. Zhong and Liu Wei arrested Ms. Gu on August 11 and brought her to the Nanwai Police Station for interrogation. By then, the authorities had suspended her pension for four months.

Zhong and three other officers arrested Ms. Gu at home and searched her place without a warrant on June 25, 2021. They claimed that on June 13, someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong materials. The police took her to the hospital for two physical examinations, yet the detention center still refused to accept her. She was released in the afternoon.
