1. [Beijing ] Ms. He Weidong Harassed

Ms. He Weidong was harassed during the 2022 Winter Olympics and the annual meetings of the People’s National Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Residential officer Ren Shan from the Baizhifang Sub-district, Xicheng District, told Ms. He’s daughter at 9 a.m. on February 21, 2022, that Ms. He had to go to the sub-district office.

As soon as Ms. He arrived at the office, two men and two women attempted to force her to sign a sheet titled, “Not to Practice Falun Gong.” They threatened her and said that she would face endless trouble if she refused to sign, but the trouble would disappear if she signed it. Ms. He refused to comply. One person said that they had just graduated from college and were sent by the district authority to handle Falun Gong cases. Three other men later joined, and they kept pressuring her until that afternoon.

The next day, two men and one woman were sent to follow Ms. He for another day. On February 23, they harassed her daughter, who did not practice Falun Gong, and prevented her from going to work. They talked to her daughter every afternoon, and pressured her to talk Ms. He into signing paperwork. The third day they stopped harassing Ms. He’s daughter. Instead her daughter’s work unit called her to go there for a nucleic acid test.

On March 2, two more people from a residential committee in the Baizhifang Sub-district came to harass Ms. He and her daughter.

Four officers arrested them and took them to the Xiguan Police Station. Seven or eight officers, including domestic security officer Wu Lingwei, interrogated them. The officers ransacked both practitioners’ homes without a search warrant. They were released that afternoon.

3. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Guangxin’s Husband Harassed

Huang Xueliang, director of the Dongqucheng Village Committee, led three officers from the Canzhuang Police Station to the homes of Guo and Zhao (first names and genders are unknown) and harassed them around 3 p.m. on February 7, 2022. These people then went to Ms. Yang Guangxin’s home. Ms. Yang was not at home at the time, but her non-practitioner husband was. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and an audio player.

Initially the court officials promised their families that the sentences would be brief, and the two practitioners would not be taken to the prison in Changchun City. Instead they would be kept in the Baishan Detention Center until the end of their prison terms. However, after the trial the two practitioners were taken directly to the Changchun Women’s Prison. Their families were not notified. Only when the prison called their families to make deposits at the prison, did their families know that the two practitioners had been taken there.
