Finding My Attachment in a Conflict and Eliminating It

(Minghui.org) I am a Vietnamese Falun Dafa practitioner. During this last phase of completing our mission, I realize all the more how precious the available time to cultivate is and the importance of validating the Fa.

Understanding the Fa Based on the Fa and How to Handle Conflicts

I recently payed particular attention to the words “cultivating xinxing” in Zhuan Falun. These two words may be easy to say, but they are difficult to attain, especially amid conflicts. The attachment to competitiveness seems to be an enemy lurking behind us. We must build a protective shield by using Dafa’s principles in order to see it and know it clearly. Only then can we eliminate it and quickly improve our cultivation states.

Here, I’d like to share with fellow practitioners an experience that occurred during the process of my cultivation.

I disagreed with a fellow practitioner about his method of persuading Chinese people to quit the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) organizations. I was not convinced by him, either, so my attachment to competitiveness grew. Initially, when I saw the fellow practitioner post in our chat group that a Taiwanese practitioner had many successful cases of persuading people to quit the CCP, with more than 28 cases each time, I felt it was normal, and I was happy for the sentient beings. I was also glad the Taiwanese practitioner did so well!

It wasn’t until one day when the fellow practitioner posted the number of people who quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, did I sit down to think: “I make phone calls every day punctually, but on average, I persuade only 7 to 8 people to quit the CCP. If there was a day when my righteous thoughts were stronger, I could make phone calls to 10 people, and I would definitely be able to help all 10 of them quit. I dare to confirm this! This is because the people I called listened for about 10 minutes, sometimes nearly 20 minutes, to my truth-clarification; and they clearly understood the true situation. Some of them even expressed their thanks to Master Li and thanked Dafa practitioners for helping them understand the truth.”

So, I asked to listen to the recordings of the Taiwanese practitioner’s phone calls. After listening to his recordings, I realized that the speed of this practitioner’s truth-clarification was fast and people quickly agreed to quit the CCP. This practitioner’s truth-clarification was concise, so every phone call was short. For example: when he talked about how Dafa has spread throughout the world, the “Tiananmen Self-Immolation Hoax” and the CCP’s harvesting of Falun Dafa practitioners’ organs while they are alive, he explained these matters in a refined manner, and those he called were relatively kind and quietly listened to him. However, when I heard the part about how this practitioner persuaded the family members of those he called to quit the CCP, I did not hear them all individually say that they agreed to quit. It was just the one person representing his other 4 relatives. I was told that this is acceptable, that the person on the phone can represent their families.

When I heard this, I felt there was something wrong. My understanding was that when I persuaded a person’s family members to quit the CCP, those family members must personally come to the phone and say, “Yes I agree.” I recall that Master said:

“So Dafa disciples need to see it clearly for what it is, and people that are represented by it need to clearly state their stance in terms of whether they will follow that malevolent demon or choose what is bright and an eternal life. They must understand this issue soberly now. The gods are set on purging it from humankind. And also, it has indeed been persecuting Dafa disciples and interfering with Fa-rectification over these years in a terribly evil way. So why, then, do the world’s people need to state their stance? Because everybody [from Mainland China] has said things about following it. When people took an oath as they were inducted into the [Communist] Party, the [Communist Youth] League, or the [Communist Young] Pioneers, they all raised a fist and swore that for their entire lives they would struggle for the sake of evil Communism and that they would devote their lives to the malevolent party. The evil specter of the malevolent party is seizing on this and persecuting those people to the point of death. The evil specter asserts that those people made a pledge back then that they would give their lives to it, so it uses that to persecute people. Also, the malevolent party’s factors still exist in the minds and bodies of those who don’t see it clearly for what it is. So how could you not see it clearly for what it is? And after you do that, you have to eliminate it.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World, Volume VII)

After hearing the recording, my heart was disturbed. I sought the help of another practitioner who knows Mandarin to help me translate my understandings, which I wrote in Vietnamese. I thought that the Chinese translation of my thoughts would more likely match what I wanted to express. In my comment, I spoke in an acrimonious tone to criticize that fellow practitioner. I wanted to exchange my thoughts with that practitioner and help him see his wrongdoing. I hoped that he could learn from this, and not just seek quantity, but should do things right. In the end, I hurt that practitioner and also hurt myself. I remembered that in traditional Chinese culture, for people to get along with each other, they must also respect the other party. Even if they are angry, they should not hurt others. Through deep thinking and self-reflection, I finally struggled free from my ego.

Then, I sent the fellow practitioner a message to express my most sincere apology. That day I cried a lot, and was so remorseful for what I did. I should not hurt a fellow practitioner like that. No matter what, I should look at this problem from different perspectives based on the Fa. I should not force my opinions on others. At the same time, I should not just look at other people’s shortcomings and follow my own wishes to criticize them. I need to examine myself even more thoroughly and frequently.

After sincerely apologizing to the practitioner, he seemed to feel my sincerity. We regained our normal relationship. I often sent him messages to encourage him and for us to try our best to do better.

After going through this incident, my heart is calm now. When I hear that there are overseas practitioners who can persuade people to quit the CCP quickly, I do not judge them, nor go and seek out the reason why they are able to do so. Instead, I quietly push myself to catch up. I place the emphasis on looking for the reason in myself, adjusting my state of mind, and doing things rationally.

Based on the Fa principles, I understand that only by looking within and getting rid of my attachments can I improve faster and save more sentient beings. If we do not look within and face our problems, but instead let our attachments loose, we will lose the chance to improve in cultivation. In that way, the countless sentient beings that we have wanted to save will follow the arrangements of the old universe. From this point of view, looking within is very important to every Dafa practitioner. Dafa practitioners must attain the corresponding standard before the countless sentient beings in the universe can enter the new universe. If not, these living beings will not be able to attain salvation and will be annihilated in the course of Fa rectification.

My Family Members Are Blessed by Dafa

Since obtaining the Fa, I feel there are no words I can use to adequately thank Master. Master is always protecting and looking after us. Just thinking about it now really moves my heart.

My parents have five daughters, and I am the youngest. All five of us are married. Since I started cultivating, it is only now that I validated the Fa to my family members. During this year’s new year holidays, my sisters and their husbands came home to reunite with my mother. I also did so. This year, joyous news kept coming to our family and surprises kept happening, especially for my fourth sister’s husband. He used to be an electrician at a company, but was recently promoted to vice president. In addition to that, one of my sisters opened a large hair salon. Her husband is the owner of a company that constructs electrical facilities. This time when they came home, I discovered that my sisters and their husbands were all supportive towards Dafa, which is different from before.

In the past, every time I returned to visit our Mom, my siblings were unhappy about my cultivation. However, their attitudes were greatly different this time. My siblings are gradually waking up to the truth about Dafa. Especially during this pandemic, my siblings are really awakening more and more. During the first few days of the pandemic, my sister was styling hair for her customers when she contracted the CCP virus. When I heard about it, I called her and clarified the truth to her with righteous thoughts. I persuaded her to recite, “Falun Dafa is Good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good,” and she started to calm down.

I recall that we talked on the phone for nearly 45 minutes. After understanding the truth, my sister and I recited, “Falun Dafa is Good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good” five times. After reciting the phrases, my sister said she felt she wanted to sleep for a while. I thought Master was cleansing her body. So, I told her that she should continue reciting the phrases after she wakes up, and recite the phrases as many times as possible, the more the better! She told me that she understood.

Three days later, my sister told me, “My dear, I really recovered!” I told her, “Very good! You must remember that Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is Buddha Fa, so our family will definitely be blessed!” After hearing that, my sister said loudly, “Then you should cultivate well! Our family will obtain safety and peace!” When I heard her say that, I was very happy. This year, when I returned home, my sister told the family, “Since sister cultivated Dafa, our family has always been fortunate.” My mother and siblings all agreed. Thank you, benevolent great Master for bringing Dafa to me and protecting my family.

Sometimes, I would say to Master, “Master! I will definitely cultivate diligently so as not to let your benevolent salvation down. I will use my life to assist Master in rectifying the Fa, and my family members will definitely obtain the righteous Fa after the Fa rectifies the human world!”

What is even more special is that in 2021, my husband and I discovered udumbara flowers in our house. There were altogether 8 locations where they blossomed; some were inside the house and some outside. I once saw udumbara flowers in my dream. When I studied the Fa the next morning, Master enlightened me and let me see udumbara flowers blossoming by the side of the door. Sometimes, I saw them on the bookshelf, and sometimes I saw them on the cabinet. Every time udumbara flowers appeared in my house, I was really moved! I was happy because I knew that I am progressing on my cultivation path to return home. I felt I must put in even more effort and progress faster to let go of all my attachments, so I can follow Master home!

Master! Master! I know that, in the long history of my life, you came to find me many times and saved me. I will definitely listen to your teachings and cultivate diligently to become a Dafa practitioner that meets the standards and make Master proud.

Fellow practitioners, let us do well in this last stretch of our cultivation path together. The closer we are to the end, the path becomes narrower, and there are many attachments which are disturbing us. They are just like the obstructions that are placed on our path of progress. However, we must remain determined. Let us straighten our backs, maintain our righteous thoughts, and progress forward courageously! Cherish this opportunity, cherish others, and cherish ourselves.
