(Minghui.org) An Anshun City, Guizhou Province resident was recently taken to the Yangai Women’s Prison to serve a five-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Xingping, 58, and her husband Mr. Lin Shusen, 56, were arrested at home on July 4, 2020 by officers from the Xixiu District Domestic Security Office. Hundreds of their personal belongings were confiscated.
While Mr. Lin had his case dropped and was released on August 30, 2020, Ms. Wang’s arrest was approved by the Xixiu District Procuratorate and she remained in custody. She was tried by the Xixiu District Court in November 2020 and sentenced to five years with a 20,000 yuan fine on May 19, 2021. She was charged with “possessing Falun Gong materials for distribution.”
Ms. Wang appealed with the Anshun City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original sentence on September 9, 2021. She was taken to prison, but her family is continuing to seek justice for her, and have filed a motion to reconsider her case with the Guizhou Province High Court.
