(Minghui.org) I have worked in a drugstore owned by a young woman since 2003. The store is in a residential compound. Her business didn’t do well when she first opened because of her lack of experience. She had a bad temper and was so easily irritated that she fought with her customers and even her own mother.
After I started to work there, I suggested improving relationships with our customers. I told her that harmonious relationships would bring wealth and explained the principles of karma and retribution.
Many customers came to the drugstore in a bad mood because they or their families were ill. I followed the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was always patient. Whatever the customer’s attitude, I treated them well and made them happy with my service.
I sold twice as much as normal on my first day at work, and business just got better and better. The owner of the store admired me. As time passed, I discovered that the owner had a compassionate heart, but she simply had trouble controlling her temper. When she praised me for being kind, I took the opportunity to tell her that I practiced Falun Dafa and that Master Li, the founder of the practice, had taught me to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and always think of others’ needs before anything else.
To cut costs, I was her one and only employee. We took turns to cover all the hours we were open and also took care of all the sales and the accounting. I never complained about having to take care of anything beyond my duties or calculated my personal interests. During the busy times of the year, I worked overtime without any complaint. I also taught the owner many things that she didn’t know. She was greatly touched and truly trusted me.
One day, I shared with her some audio programs I had downloaded from the Minghui website. She listened for an afternoon and was moved to tears by the pure beauty, compassion, and truthfulness in the traditional culture. She told me, “I used to have a bad attitude when I was with my family and my customers. I have to improve myself.” She did indeed.
One time, the owner said that the cash was 50 yuan short when she checked it against the receipts. She told me to think back about the discrepancy. I said that I had checked it once and the amount matched the receipts. As we were checking it again, the owner got irritated and blamed me for the loss. As a matter of fact, I had often worked without supervision and had put extra cash I found into the box. She had confirmed with me when I asked her if the cash was more than the receipts.
I was determined to find the discrepancy so that I wouldn’t make any mistakes in the future. As I looked through the handwritten records, I found an entry for 70 yuan that looked like 20 yuan. That was why she had thought we were 50 yuan short. She realized that I was right and apologized. I dismissed it easily. As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I followed Master’s teaching and thought of others before anything else and cultivated altruism.
The store owner saw how truthful and tolerant a Falun Dafa practitioner was. She said, “Falun Dafa practitioners are different from ordinary people.” I clarified the truth of Falun Dafa to her and told her how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had lied about Dafa just to justify its persecution. I told her how Falun Dafa had improved my health and moral standards. I used to be calculating, but cultivating Falun Dafa had given me a big heart and I had good relationships with the people around me.
Ever since then, the owner has trusted me to handle the money after her hours. She told me where she kept her backup cash in the store and in her bedroom on the second floor of the same building. As she said, she trusts Falun Dafa practitioners “100%.”
The owner also read Falun Dafa books and learned the exercises. She has become nicer and nicer, and her customers now praise her. She even looks younger and prettier. This is a manifestation of Falun Dafa’s power. She said she would like to officially start cultivating when the persecution stops. The store’s profits have continued to climb. It has become a good place for me to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to our customers.
