(Minghui.org) A 62-year-old Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province resident was sentenced to three years with a 3,000-yuan fine for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wu Min, a former employee of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group, was arrested on June 22, 2021, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong days earlier. She stood trial at Dong District Court on October 27 and was sentenced on December 6, 2021.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wu was targeted for her faith several times between September 2019 and April 2021. Her mother, in her 90s, witnessed one of her arrests on July 12, 2020 and was traumatized. The elderly woman became very slow and she was unable to recognize her son for a week when he came to visit her. Worrying about Ms. Wu, she suffered high blood pressure and a subsequent stroke. She was hospitalized in September 2020 and became paralyzed afterward.
Ms. Wu was previously sentenced to five years in prison and fired by her employer. While she served time at Panzhihua Detention Center, guard Zeng Xiaomin forced her to wear heavy shackles weighing up to more than 80 pounds for weeks. She was once tied up in a bed in a spread-eagle position for 12 days. The guards constantly beat and verbally abused her, in an attempt to force her to renounce Falun Gong.
