Additional Persecution News from China – January 27, 2022 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Guan Yibo Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Mr. Guan Yibo from Luohu District was sentenced to eight years in prison and the verdict was upheld in the intermediate court. It was learned that he was imprisoned in the Sihui Prison at the end of 2021.

2. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wei Jiangmei Tried in Court

Ms. Wei Jiangmei was tried again in the Bincheng District Court on January 25, 2022.

3. [Jingzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhou Aihua Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhou Aihua was subjected to a body search and was arrested at the South High-speed Railway Station in Huaihua City by local police on June 19, 2021when she was taking the train to visit her younger brother in Changsha City.

Ms. Zhou was tried and sentenced to seven months and fined 2000 yuan by the Huaihua Railway Transportation Court on October 25, 2021. She was detained and released.

4. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Zhilan Harassed

Multiple officers from the Qingshan Police Station in the Shigu District waited downstairs at the building where 74-year-old Ms. Yang Zhilan lives on January 19, 2022. They attempted to take her to have a physical exam for further persecution. Ms. Yang didn’t go downstairs but another practitioner Wang was arrested after coming downstairs.

5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Wenjun Arrested

Mr. Li Wenjun from the Jiangnan High-tech Zone was arrested and detained in the Jilin City Detention House.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Jiao Shuying Arrested

Ms. Jiao Shuying lives in the Hongfuyuan Community, Changping District, Beijing. She was arrested at home by officers in the Changping District on the afternoon of January 23, 2022. She was taken to the Changping District Detention Center on January 24, 2022.

7. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Three Family Members Arrested

Mr. Cai Zhongda, his wife Ms. Zeng Sufang and their son from Jiexi County were arrested by officers from the Nanshan Town Police Station in December 2021 for distributing truth-clarifying materials. They have been detained in the Jiexi County Detention Center.

8. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Sun Deguo and Mr. Dai Zhidong were reported to police on the morning of January 8, 2022 for distributing truth-clarifying materials at a gas station when they were on their way to Lindian to deliver goods. They were intercepted by the traffic police and taken to the Lindian Police Department. Their homes were ransacked that afternoon by the police including Wei Fang. Their Falun Gong books, computers, cash, and other personal belongings were confiscated. Five thousand yuan was confiscated from Mr. Dai Zhidong’s home and 20,000 yuan was confiscated from Mr. Sun Deguo’s home.

The police also arrested Mr. Sun Wenzhong and Mr. Zhang Liguo who stayed in Mr. Sun Deguo’s home. Mr. Sun Wenzhong was detained in the Taikang Detention Center in Daqing City. Ms. Zhang Liguo, Mr. Sun Deguo and Mr. Dai Zhidong were released on bail pending trial.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Shuwen Arrested

Multiple officers from the Yangfangdian Police Station in Haidian District went to Ms. Zhang Shuwen’s home around 8 p.m. on January 4, 2022. They did not show their IDs and ransacked her home. They confiscated many Falun Gong books, lectures give by Falun Gong’s founder, a photo of the founder, and Falun Gong videos and tapes. Ms. Zhang was released on bail pending trial the next day because of her high blood pressure.

10. [Kaijiang County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Mingying Imprisoned After Her Appeal is Rejected

Ms. Liu Mingying, 75, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Kaijiang County Court on October 27, 2021. She appealed to the Dazhou City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold the original sentence. She was taken to the Sichuan Province Women's Prison in mid-January 2022. Ms. Fang Zhengping, 69, was also imprisoned around the same time to serve a four and a half year term.
