(Minghui.org) A Guyuan City, Ningxia Province, resident is experiencing medical difficulties, three months after he was arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Zhao Hengde, 66, was arrested on the evening of November 26, 2021, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police ransacked his home at around 10 p.m. that night.

Mr. Zhao was officially detained on criminal charges on November 28. His arrest was approved on December 10. The prosecutor indicted him on December 17 and moved his case to the Xixia District Court.

After three months at the Yinchuan City Detention Center, Mr. Zhao developed a medical condition and is now wearing a urinary catheter. Because he holds firm to his faith in Falun Gong, the authorities refuse to release him. He is in the process of hiring a lawyer.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Zhao has been targeted several times over the past two decades of persecution. He was first arrested in October 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. He was later sentenced to three years. As soon as he finished serving time, the authorities transferred him to a brainwashing center and held him for another 60 days.

Mr. Zhao was arrested again on December 9, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution. He was later released due to a medical condition.
