Additional Persecution News from China – January 28, 2022 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Zhu Jianhua Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhu Jianhua, in his 60s, from Chaoyang District, was arrested on August 15, 2020, and held in the Dongcheng Detention Center in Changping District. It was recently reported that Mr. Zhu had been sentenced to three and a half years in prison and transferred to a prison in Shenzhen around December 21, 2021.

2. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Original Verdict Against Mr. Luan Changhui Upheld

Mr. Luan Changhui’s family received a verdict from the Lianshan District Court on November 30, 2021, stating that Mr. Luan had been sentenced to four years in prison.

On January 25, 2022, the Huludao Intermediate Court issued a ruling: 2021-Liao-14 -Criminal-Final-#338, upholding the original judgment.

3. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Qiaolei’s Daughter Ms. Wang Meiqi Taken to Prison

Ms. Wang Meiqi, Ms. Zhang Qiaolei’s daughter, was taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in January 2022.

4. [Chongqing] Mr. Dai Xianming Officially Arrested

Mr. Dai Xianming from the Yongchuan District was officially placed under arrest. Someone called Mr. Dai’s wife, Ms. Xu Keqin, on January 21, 2022, and asked her to sign paperwork. She refused to sign and demanded that her husband be released.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Honghong Arrested

Ms. Li Honghong was arrested on January 23, 2022.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Mao Jiaping Tried

Ms. Mao Jiaping was arrested on June 2, 2021 and held in the Yaojia Detention Center. It was recently reported that Ms. Mao was tried via video link by the Ganjingzi District Court in late December 2021. Ms. Mao pleaded not guilty during the trial. The verdict has not yet been announced.

7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jia Qiongying Arrested

Ms. Jia Qiongying, from Tongfu Village, Jinma Town, Wenjiang District, and Ms. Zhang Zhenfang, from Ganzi Village, Peng Town, Shuangliu District, went to the Zoujiachang Community in Jiujiang Town to distribute information about Falun Gong on January 3, 2022. They were arrested by officers from the Jiaolong Police Station.

Officers forced them to take physical examinations. The officers photographed them and compiled interrogation transcripts. Both practitioners were brought home by their family members after 2 a.m. that night.

8. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Feng Shanghao Harassed

Ms. Feng Shanghao from Andi Town was arrested by four or five local police officers on the morning of January 18, 2022. She was released that afternoon.

Four or five local police officers broke into Ms. Feng’s home again on January 20. Ms. Feng was not at home at the time. They continued looking for her. In order to avoid further persecution she had to stay away from her home for many days.

9. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Lawyer Denied Meeting With Ms. Wang Hong

After her second trial, Ms. Wang Hong from Huyi District, appealed. Her lawyer immediately went to the Lianhu Detention Center. Detention center officials twice denied a meeting with Ms. Wang. He still has not been able to meet with her.

10. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Sun Yushan Arrested

Mr. Sun Yushan was arrested by officers from the Qingshuitang Police Station in the Kaifu District on the evening of January 20, 2022. He is being held in the Changsha City No. 2 Detention Center. The lawyer hired by Mr. Sun’s family is scheduled to meet with him at the detention center at 8:30 a.m. on January 28.

11. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gao Guixiu Held in Detention Center

When Ms. Gao Guixiu, 67, from Yi County, Jinzhou City, stayed at her son’s home in Shuangyang County, Changchun City, the police began following her when she accompanied her grandchild to and from kindergarten.

Three officers from the Shuangyang County Police Department went to the work units of Ms. Gao’s son and daughter-in-law on January 13, 2022. They asked her son and daughter-in-law to lead them to Ms. Gao’s home, and they ransacked the place. They confiscated numerous Falun Gong books and arrested Ms. Gao and her non-practitioner son.

Ms. Gao was transferred from Changchun City to the Railway Police Station in Jinzhou City on January 14 by officers from the Jinzhou Railway Police Department. Her son was released on bail on January 15 after his father paid the bail.

Ms. Gao was taken to the Huludao Detention Center on January 16. The detention center will not allow her family to visit her, and her family is very worried.
