(Minghui.org) A 69-year-old Shanghai resident is continuing to seek justice with the Shanghai High Court, after her motion to reconsider her wrongful case for practicing Falun Gong was rejected by a local intermediate court.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
For upholding her faith, Ms. Guan Longmei has been wrongfully imprisoned three times for a total of 12 years in the past 23 years. Her husband also divorced her due to the pressure from the persecution.
Ms. Guan filed the motion with Shanghai City No. 1 Intermediate Court in August 2021, against her latest 3.5-year prison term given in 2015. The appeals court registered the case on October 18. She was notified on January 4, 2022 that her motion was rejected.
In the notice to reject her motion, the court wrote that she didn’t have a valid reason to file for the motion and her case doesn’t qualify for a retrial.
Although the notice to register her motion stated that the case was handled by judge Ren Dekang, the rejection notice, dated December 30, 2021, only had an official seal of the court, without the signature of any judge.
Ms. Guan proceeded to file her motion to reconsider the wrongful case with the Shanghai High Court on January 23, 2022.
