Hong Kong: Man Convicted of Vandalizing Property Belonging to Falun Dafa Practitioners

Nov. 3, 2022 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Hong Kong

(Minghui.org) A West Kowloon Magistrate Court judge recently convicted a man who repeatedly vandalized Falun Dafa practitioners’ property in December 2020. The judge found Hu Aimin, a pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) activist, guilty of five counts of criminal damage on October 31, 2022. The sentencing trial will be held on December 1.

Defendant Hu Aimin

Acting as CCP’s Hitman

Judge Li Chi-Ho said that the facts in the case were indisputable, as the defendant himself admitted destroying items that belonged to Falun Dafa practitioners in public.

Hu claimed that the practitioners’ public display of posters and banners violated the Constitution and National Security Law of China. In order to safeguard China’s national security, Hu said that it was his duty to enforce the law. The judge called the statement distorted and irrational, “Does this mean that anyone who kills, steals, and vandalizes could claim that he is enforcing the law under the pretense of National Security Law?”

The judge stressed that law enforcement exists to do this job. Those who privately enforce the law with high-sounding excuses will bring chaos to the nation, and counter the social well-being. He said the defendant intentionally sabotaged private property and thus was found guilty.

Hu was accused of damaging the property of three Falun Dafa practitioners during five incidents on December 13, 19, and 20, in 2020. He broke their banners, posters, and computer accessories. The authorities arrested him on December 24, 2020, and charged him with five counts of criminal damage.

Hu was also involved in another case, in which he and several pro-CCP activists vandalized property belonging to Falun Dafa practitioners on April 3, 2021. The case will be heard on December 8, 9, and 12.

CCP’s Propaganda Instigates People to Commit Crimes

Ms. Chen, one of the victims, said that Hu believed the CCP’s propaganda against Falun Dafa, which claimed that the practice was illegal and harmful. It led to him to violate the law. “Falun Dafa practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and would not violate any laws. The CCP persecutes the practice even though there is not a law in China that stipulates the practice is unlawful,” she said.

Former CCP leader Jiang Zemin established the 610 Office and launched the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999. The CCP staged the self-immolation incident at Tiananmen Square in January 2001 to instigate national hatred toward the practice. According to Minghui.org, over 200 thousand practitioners filed lawsuits against Jiang at China’s Supreme Court and Supreme Procuratorate between 2015 and 2016. Practitioners in over 30 countries have sued Jiang for committing genocide, and crimes against humanity and torture.

The People’s Congress, China's highest legislative body, and the State Council, China’s highest executive body, have not issued a notice banning Falun Dafa. China’s Ministry of Public Security, General Office of the CCP Central Committee, and General Office of the State Council issued a notice in 2005 calling out 14 religious cults. Falun Dafa is not on the list.

Ms. Chen exposed the CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Dafa to the public because she was a victim. She said, “In China, we don’t have a place to complain. In Hong Kong, we have the freedom to tell people that we are wronged.” She condemned Hu and his gang for assaulting innocent, unarmed people. “One time an elderly practitioner tried to prevent them from damaging the property. They pushed her so hard that she fell. I don’t know how they had the heart to do it.”

Falun Dafa practitioners in Hong Kong have been peacefully protesting on the streets since the persecution started. At the same time, the pro-CCP activists have tried to intimidate them by harassing and threatening them with violence. In September 2019 they assaulted a practitioner who organized a Falun Dafa parade and caused her to bleed excessively from the head. The 22-year-old assailant was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison in 2022 for intentional assault.

Background

Hu was accused of damaging four banners on Soy Street and two more on Wai Fung Plaza in Mong Kok on December 13, 2020. The next day he broke a computer stand and a flag at Star Ferry Pier, and six banners and a flag on Soy Street. The damaged property belonged to three Falun Dafa practitioners.
