Additional Persecution News from China – September 24, 2022 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 35 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Lihua Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Sun Lihua was arrested and detained for five days in Jinzhou City in early 2019. A guard on the train to Jinzhou City searched her bag and found information about Falun Gong.

When Ms. Sun went to the Railway Police Department on January 19, 2022 to have the residential surveillance removed, she was arrested and detained. She was placed under official arrest on January 27, 2022. She was tried in court on the afternoon of May 26, 2022. The hearing was adjourned due to insufficient evidence.

Ms. Sun was tried again on the morning of July 8, 2022 and was sentenced to three years in prison. She has appealed to the intermediate court. 

2. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ge Maosen and His Wife Ms. Luo Baofang Arrested

Mr. Ge Maosen and his wife Ms. Luo Baofang were arrested on the evening of August 31, 2022. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Ge was taken and detained in Shuangyashan City and Mr. Ge was detained in Youyi County on September 15, 2022.

3. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Hang Xia Arrested

Mr. Hang Xia from the Wanjiang Community was arrested on the morning of September 22, 2022. It is unknown where he is detained.

4. [Chongqing] Mr. Qiu Shiyou’s Home Ransacked

Mr. Qiu Shiyou, 80, lives with his daughter in Wangjianglou, Yuzhong District. Six plainclothes officers from the Nanjimen Police Station went to his home at 8 a.m. on September 20, 2022. They searched his home. Mr. Qiu stopped them from confiscating his Falun Gong books and his photo of Falun Gong’s founder.

5. [Botou City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Harassed

Officers including Gao Yixin from the Wangwu Police Station went to Chen Zhihui’s home in Bojizhuang Village on September 18, 2022. They questioned and videotaped Chen. Besides Chen Zhihui, five other practitioners were also harassed including Liu Shufen and Liu Yanhui in Bojizhang Village, Xu Jinying in Woligao Village, Fu Aiying in Wangwu Village, and Wang Guifen in Jinmaju Village.

6. [Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Meiling Arrested

Ms. Sun Meiling was arrested by six plainclothes officers when she just left her home at 7 a.m. on July 11, 2022. She was taken to the Taodong Police Department. While she was interrogated there, the police ransacked her home and confiscated more than 40 Falun Gong books, a tablet computer, and two audio players. Ms. Sun did not cooperate with the police and was released that evening. 

7. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Yan and Wu Bangjun Detained in a Brainwashing Center 

Ms. Zhou Yan and Wu Bangjun were arrested at home by several officers at noon on August 31, 2022. The police confiscated five servers, Falun Gong books, and USB drives. 

Ms. Zhou Yan and Wu Bangjun were taken to a brainwashing session that was held in the Fule Hotel on September 1, 2022. There were three beds in the room. Practitioners were placed in the middle bed and watched 24 hours a day. The two practitioners were detained there for over 10 days.

8. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Songli’s Home Ransacked

Officers including Li Dan, deputy of the Tongjiaqiao Police Station in Shapingba District, went to Ms. Yang Songli’s home in the Linquanyashe Residential Community. They attempted to take Ms. Yang away, but she resisted. The police stayed from 4 to 6 p.m. They finally gave up arresting her. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and a photo of the founder of Falun Gong.

9. [Bin County, Heilongjiang Province] The Case Against Ms. Wang Jian Submitted to the Court

Ms. Wang Jian was arrested downstairs by officers from the Shengli Street Police Station when she left home for work on July 11, 2022. The police ransacked her home and confiscated two laptops, two printers, her Falun Gong books, two e-books, stickers, two cell phones, more than 20 boxes of printing paper, and ink. 

The case against Ms. Wang was submitted to the Yilan County Court on August 26, 2022.

10. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Li Shuiqiao Arrested

Mr. Li Shuiqiao was arrested at home by police in the Lianxi District on August 12, 2022. 

Before he was arrested, five or six practitioners in the same Fa study group Mr. Li attended were arrested. Mr. Li didn’t go to the study group that day but his phone number was tracked to the address. The police traced his phone and located Mr. Li.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Chen Jun and four other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Zhifang Police Station in Jiangxia District in July 2022. The practitioners have been detained in detention centers or mental hospitals. The police are trying to blackmail money from their families. 

12. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Five Practitioners Harassed

Officer Zhang Jiuzhi from the Huanggezhuang Town Police Station harassed practitioners including Xia Youhui, Zhang Shuyin, Dong Shuhong, Ma Qiulan, and Dong Xiuyun. The officer warned the practitioners not to practice Falun Gong and not to go out [to raise awareness].

13. [Hengyang County, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Several people including Liu, deputy of the 610 Office, and Zhou, a Domestic Security Division deputy, went to 71-year-old Mr. Liu Liangsong’s home in Yanpi Town on September 17, 2022. They ransacked his home and confiscated over 10 Falun Gong books and forty to fifty amulets.

The police also went to harass practitioner Liu in Xianshan Township and Wang in Hongshi Town. 

14. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xu Guiyun Arrested

Four officers from the Niangniangzhuang Township Police Station went to Ms. Xu Guiyun’s home in Niangniangzhuang Village at 1 p.m. on September 16, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, wall poster, calendar, etc. Ms. Xu was taken to the police station but was released around 4 p.m.

15. [Chongqing] Mr. Li Xingming Arrested 

Mr. Li Xingming from Nanping Town was arrested by police in Nanping on September 19, 2022. It is unknown where she is detained.

16. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Chen Changmin Arrested

A group of people went to Chen Changmin’s home around 7 a.m. on September 21, 2022. They ransacked Chen’s home and confiscated a printer, computer, Falun Gong books, cell phone, and money imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Chen was taken to the Qinglong Police Station for interrogation and was transferred to the brainwashing center in Chenghua District. Because of the pandemic, Chen was released at 2 a.m. on September 23, 2022. 

17. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Zhang Jielin Arrested

Zhang Jielin (gender unknown) from Shunqing District was arrested at home on the afternoon of September 21, 2022. Zhang’s home was ransacked.

18. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Wanning Harassed

Officers including Fu Baocheng from the Dafengying Township Police Station, led by village official Wang Guoan, went to harass Mr. Li Wanning on August 27, 2022. 

Officers including Zhu, head of the police station, harassed practitioners in different villages within a few days around September 20, 2022. They photographed and videotaped the practitioners and tore down the wall posters and the photos of Falun Gong’s founder.
