Additional Persecution News from China – October 6, 2022 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. He Baiqing Faces Trial

Ms. He Baiqing, in her 70s, is a retired employee of the Shengli Oilfield. She will be tried by the Dongying District Court on October 10, 2022. She was arrested on April 23, 2021.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu, Ms. Li, and Ms. Cui were on the first floor of Jilin University Hospital building on the afternoon of September 27, 2022, when security guards asked them to go to the office on the fourth floor. The security guards then called the nearby Jianshe Street Police Station, who arrested the three practitioners.

The detention center refused to admit Ms. Liu due to her high blood pressure and she was released. Her home was ransacked. The other two practitioners’ situations are unknown and they may have been detained.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Lanfang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yu Lanfang was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. She was transferred from the Fengqiao Police Station to the Suzhou City No. 4 Detention Center on October 3, 2022.

4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Shuqing Held in Psychiatric Hospital for Four Months

It was reported that Ms. Zhang Shuqing from the Xinzhou District was ill and bedridden. Her family members asked her if she practiced Falun Gong, and she said yes. Her family sent her to the Liuji Psychiatric Hospital in Xinzhou District.

When she asked to be discharged from the hospital, the doctors asked if she practiced Falun Gong, and she said yes. The doctors told her that she would not be allowed to leave if she practiced Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhang has been held there for about four months. She does not have her cell phone and has lost contact with the outside world.

5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Released After Spending a Month or More in Custody

Eight practitioners who were arrested on August 16, 2022, in Anshan Town, Changli County, for clarifying the facts about the persecution, have returned home safely.

Six practitioners went home after being held in custody for 30 days. They are: Shen Yanru, Bai Hanzhi, Xuan Xiaowen, Mr. Chen Dong, Yang Jinxia (arrested by mistake), and an elderly practitioner (arrested by mistake and whose name is unknown). The two who returned home after being held for 37 days are: Mr. Wang Qinghua and Ms. Wang Ying.

The police have installed surveillance cameras near Mr. Wang’s home. Mr. Chen was beaten by three inmates while he was held in the Changli County Detention Center. Detention center guards handcuffed and shackled Mr. Chen and forced him to sit on a tiger bench.

6. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fan Shiling Held in Detention Center

Ms. Fan Shiling from Xiajin County was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials. She is being held in the Dezhou City Detention Center.

7. [Weining County, Guizhou Province] Ms. Xu Yanfei’s Home Ransacked

Nearly 20 officers headed by Li Yan of the Weining County Domestic Security Division went to Ms. Xu Yafei’s home and jumped through her window to break into an exterior room on October 4, 2022.

Ms. Xu was not aware of the break-in at first, and these people threatened to coerce her to open the doors to the other rooms. They then ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books and personal belongings. They took her to the police station. Ms. Xu returned home around 5 p.m. that day.

8. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Yun Arrested

It was learned that Ms. Li Yun, in her 40s, from Mamu New Village, Guanghan City, was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on September 30, 2022. She was arrested and taken to Deyang City.

9. [Anqing City, Anhui Province] Cases Against Mr. Huang Zhisong and Mr. Jiang Xiagen Turned Over to Procuratorate

Mr. Huang Zhisong and Mr. Jiang Xiagen from the Development Zone were arrested by officers from the Development Zone Domestic Security Division on June 17, 2022. Their cases were turned over to the Taihu County Procuratorate on September 23. They are being held in the Anqing City No. 1 Detention Center.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Airong Harassed

Xu Guoyu, a household registration police officer from the Ziqiang Police Station in the Nanguan District, and another officer knocked on the door of Ms. Lu Airong’s home on September 19, 2022. They asked to take a photo together with Ms. Lu to prove that she was at home.

11. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Wenlong Beaten by Police

Mr. Xu Wenlong was arrested from his home by officers from the Zhiyuan Police Station on the afternoon of October 4, 2022. The officers used violence. Mr. Xu was handcuffed and heavily shackled. The officers interrogated him numerous times and took him to the Qianfoshan Hospital for a physical examination. Early in the afternoon, another practitioner who was next door heard the officers beating him and they dragged him into a small cell.

The officers forcibly collected his blood samples. They decided to put him under residential surveillance for six months.

12. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yan Shufang Officially Arrested

Officers from the Dongchang District Domestic Security Division called Ms. Yan Shufang’s family on September 30, 2022, to notify them that Ms. Yan had been officially placed under arrest by the Dongchang District Procuratorate.

Later that day, a prison doctor at the Tonghua City Detention Center notified Ms. Yan’s family by phone that she was on a hunger strike and asked her family to deposit money for her.

13. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Duan Xiran and Ms. Duan Xirong Harassed

Officers from the Liangpo Police Station of Laiwu District and Beishanzihou Village director Duan Chongzhou pressured Ms. Duan Xiran and her sister Ms. Duan Xirong to sign the paperwork.

14. [Chongqing] Ms. Shen Fengmei Arrested

Two plainclothes officers from the Sha District Domestic Security Division and the Shijingpo Police Station went to Ms. Shen Fengmei’s home on September 20, 2022. Ms. Shen was not at home at the time, and the two officers coaxed her family into opening the door. They searched her home claiming they were checking for safety violations. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

When Ms. Shen returned home, she was intercepted by residential officer Jiang Wei and a female officer who was waiting downstairs. They took her directly to the Shijngpo Police Station.

The officers transcribed the interrogation, photographed her, and pressured her to sign paperwork. Ms. Shen returned home around 10 p.m.

15. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhou Meili Tried

Ms. Zhou Meili was arrested in June 2022. She has been held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center. Her case was turned over to the procuratorate. She was tried at the end of September by Yongxiu County. No verdict was announced in the courtroom.
