(Minghui.org) Ms. Huang Wenfen’s family was kept in the dark of her situation after she was arrested on October 30, 2021. They recently confirmed that she had been sentenced to one year and fined 2,000 yuan for her faith in Falun Gong. The authorities said that she is scheduled to be released this November.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Huang, a 60-year-old Yichang City, Hubei Province resident, had her home ransacked by a dozen officers on September 8, 2021. Her printer and Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was ordered to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong, but she refused to comply.

The police took Ms. Huang to the police station for interrogation two days after the home raid. They questioned her on where she got the Falun Gong books. She didn’t answer them. They harassed her again on September 12 and she still refused to cooperate with them.

A month later on October 30, the police took Ms. Huang to the Wujiagang Brainwashing Center. After that, her family wasn’t given any update about her status. It was not until recently that they learned about her prison sentence.

Decades of Displacement to Hide from the Police

Ms. Huang took up Falun Gong in 1999. Only a week later, her heart condition and gallstones disappeared. Her daughter, who was born prematurely and very weak since childhood, also enjoyed quick health improvement.

When the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong months later, Ms. Huang was repeatedly harassed and had her home ransacked. Fearing being implicated, her husband divorced her in October 2001 and took possession of all of their property. She and her daughter were forced to live in a pigpen, yet the police often parked their car next to the pigpen to monitor them.

The mother and daughter later moved to another city. To hide from the police, they moved 23 times in eleven years. The pressure kept them from continuing to practice Falun Gong. The hardship of life also took a toll on both of their health.

Ms. Huang later developed uterine fibroids and sepsis. She had persistent vaginal bleeding and often vomited blood. Her daughter, on the other hand, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

Eventually, the mother and daughter decided to resume practicing Falun Gong and they both miraculously recovered in three months.

Due to years of wandering about, Ms. Huang didn’t have any job or savings. She relied on her daughter to support the family. Now the younger woman faced a more dire situation to take care of her 96-year-old grandfather after Ms. Huang’s latest arrest.
