(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qian’an City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiumin and Ms. Guo Yuexia Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Liu Xiumin and Ms. Guo Yuexia were arrested by officers from the Qian’an City Domestic Security Division on September 8, 2020. They were tried by the Zunhua Court, Tangshan City, on May 25, 2021. That was nearly 400 days ago. It was recently reported that Ms. Liu was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and Ms. Guo to two years in prison. Both practitioners are being held in the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center.

2. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Shumei Taken to Prison

Ms. Liu Shumei, 57, from Dongzhou District was arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Dalian farmers market on the morning of September 15, 2020. Her home was ransacked. It was recently reported that Ms. Liu was sentenced to seven years in prison by judge Tian Hao of the Dongzhou District Court. She has been taken to the Liaoning Women’s Prison.

3. [Chongqing] Mr. Chen Mingxi Tried in Court

Mr. Chen Mingxi from Yubei District was tried by the Jiangbei District Court at 9:30 a.m. on December 23, 2021. After prosecutor Liu Jie read out the indictment, Mr. Chen defended himself. Attorney Cheng from Damei Lawyers also stated that his client’s practice of Falun Gong did not cause social harm, which prosecutor Liu strongly refuted. When Mr. Chen was preparing to make his final statement, he was interrupted by presiding judge Sun Hongtao, saying, “What you are about to say is on file here, and there is no need to say it.” Sun promptly announced that he would choose another day to pronounce the sentence.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Feng Jimei Sentenced to Prison

Feng Jimei (gender unknown) was arrested at home by officers from the Zhongshan Police Department and the Kunming Street Police Station on November 18, 2020. The officers ransacked Feng’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books and Feng’s cell phone. Feng has been held in the Yaojia Detention Center for over 13 months. Feng was tried in summer 2021, and sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Guo Shufen Officially Arrested

Ms. Guo Shufen was officially placed under arrest by the Linghai City Procuratorate on December 21, 2021, for using a (slanderous term deleted) organization to undermine law enforcement. She is being held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

6. [Yunmeng County, Hubei Province] Case Against Mr. Li Guangqing Turned Over to Procuratorate

Mr. Li Guangqing was arrested by officers from the Chengguanshuilu Police Station on August 5, 2021. He was held in the Xiaogan Detention Center and then in the Yunmeng Detention Center, for over four months. Lu Hongzhou from the Yunmeng County Domestic Security Division sent Mr. Li’s case file to the Yunmeng County Procuratorate, which transferred it to the Anlu Procuratorate on December 1.

7. [Haiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Ling Detained

Ms. Wang Ling was arrested by Laiyang City police on the morning of December 10, 2021. She was held in the Laiyang City Detention Center for 10 days.

8. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Qiyao Abused in Detention Center

Ms. Li Qiyao, who was held in the Huangshi No. 1 Detention Center, has been taken home by her son. It was reported that Ms. Li weighed more than 130 pound when she was arrested. She was severely abused in the Huangshi No. 1 Detention Center. She is now emaciated, and weighs less than 80 pounds.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Wu Xuefang Harassed

Staff members of the Xinfeng Community Management Office in Qinjiagang Town, Shapingba District, broke into Ms. Wu Xuefang’s home on the afternoon of December 17, 2021. They wanted to “transform” Ms. Wu, and told her not to go out. When Ms. Wu rejected their demand, they called her daughter. They threatened her and said that her mother’s refusal to transform would not only impact her job, even her son would not be allowed to take examinations as part of application for government jobs.

Ms. Wu’s daughter has confirmed said she is no longer getting paid on public holidays.

10. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Elderly Practitioner Harassed

On December 17, 2021, two police officers from the Dafengying Police Station drove a police car to the home of an elderly practitioner in Dongli Village. They harassed the practitioner and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. The next day, the practitioner suffered half-body numbness and was taken to the hospital where the practitioner was diagnosed with a cerebral infarction.

11. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Xiaoyan and Ms. Li Xiaoxia Held in Detention Center

Ms. Cao Xiaoyan and Ms. Li Xiaoxia from Pingyuan County were arrested on November 2, 2021. They are still being held in the Dezhou City Detention Center.

12. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Shu Min’s Pension Suspended

Shu Min (gender unknown) from Shuncheng District was arrested on November 1, 2018. In the absence of any criminal evidence, the Shuncheng District Court opened a trial against Shu on May 27, 2019, in the Fushun Detention Center. On July 23, 2019, Shu was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. Shu was held in the Fushun Detention Center. Currently, Shu’s pension has been suspended.

13. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Huaizhen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Huaizhen was arrested on December 22, 2021.

14. [Kaifeng City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Guimei Faces Trial

Ms. Zhang Guimei was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was arrested and will be tried at the Shunhe Hui District Court at 9 a.m. on December 23, 2021.
