(Minghui.org) An elderly woman from Shulan City, Jilin Province was arrested by riot police while visiting her son in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. After Ms. Yang Dianying was forced to return to her hometown about 2,000 miles away, her local authorities continued to harass her and constantly checked whether she was home.

Ms. Yang often visited her son in recent years to help care for her grandchild, and she went to Shenzhen City again in late 2020. During her spare time, she went out to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

At around 8 p.m. on November 1, 2020, two police officers from the Minzhi Police Station in Shenzhen and a person with a red armband (who was a community worker mobilized by the government to monitor dissidents), came to Ms. Yang’s son’s home.

The police ordered Ms. Yang to go with them to the police station, after confirming she practices Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, one officer said to her, “You must go with us. The higher ups from the Domestic Security Office have come to handle your case.”

As Ms. Yang insisted that she wouldn’t go to the police station, the authorities dispatched riot police, who surrounded her son’s apartment building with shields and guns in hand. Ms. Yang’s family was terrified.

After Ms. Yang was forcibly taken to the police station, the police told her son that someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong materials.

The person who reported her, however, refused to come to the police station to identify her. The officers from the Domestic Security Office then left.

Unable to proceed with her case, the police decided to transfer her to the Minxin Police Station since the tipster reported her there.

It was already 10 p.m. when they arrived at the Minxin Police Station. The police ordered Ms. Yang to sit in the metal chair in the interrogation room. She also refused to comply, maintaining that she didn’t violate any law in practicing Falun Gong and shouldn’t be treated like a suspect. The police later locked her in a room with metal fence and left at around 2 a.m.

When they returned for work on the next day, they ordered her son to take her back to Jilin Province within three days and forced him to pay a 2,000-yuan deposit, in case he didn’t comply.

After Ms. Yang returned to her hometown, Lei Guangfu, the Party secretary of local residential committee kept harassing her. He also ordered her friends to call her and her family members to check whether she stays at home.
