(Minghui.org) My mother is a Falun Dafa practitioner, but she neglected sending forth righteous thoughts. She would be busy cooking when it was time to do it.

If I reminded her that it was time to send righteous thoughts, she would get impatient and make excuses for herself, saying things like, “Family members are in a hurry to get to work.” I was concerned about her not sending righteous thoughts at that time, and as a result I could not focus when I sent forth righteous thoughts, because I was wondering when she would join me.

I looked within and discovered that I was too concerned about my mom’s sending righteous thoughts. I was actually looking outward. I started focusing my attention on letting go of this attachment.

When my mom did not send righteous thoughts with me, I looked inward and examined my thoughts. I tried to pay less attention to her attachment but that was hard to do because of my notion that I was “correct.”

As I looked inward more, I found two other attachments. One was my affection for my mother, so I had excessive concern for her cultivation state. I realized that Master looks after her, and all I need to do is simply remind her.

The other attachment was my tendency to look at other people’s shortcomings. I realized that we have limited time to cultivate ourselves and shouldn’t waste time looking for other people’s problems.

After I found these attachments, I decided to work on getting rid of them. When it was time to send righteous thoughts, I reminded my mother and then started to focus on sending righteous thoughts.

Miraculously, my mom came out of the kitchen and sat down to send righteous thoughts with me. When this happened, my heart was not moved at all. Thank you, Master, for helping me find my shortcomings.

I now realize that cultivation is just about cultivating oneself. Paying attention to other people’s attachments must be relinquished. When we see other people’s problems, we can kindly tell them and keep our hearts unmoved. If we cannot manage to do that, we really need to improve our hearts.

This is my personal understanding that I wanted to share with everyone.
