Additional Persecution News from China – July 17, 2021 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 46 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Deng Yulin Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Mr. Deng Yulin was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Huanren County Court. He appealed to the Benxi Intermediate Court but the verdict was upheld. His family appealed, but their appeal was rejected by the Benxi Intermediate Court on July 14, 2021. Mr. Deng’s bank card was frozen by court order. Mr. Deng was sent to the Panjin Prison on July 16, 2021. 

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Four Elderly Practitioners Persecuted in Brainwashing Center

Four elderly practitioners were arrested in early and mid-June 2021 and taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in Qiaokou District. 

Ms. Deng Xiuqin who is disabled, was carried from her home by officers from the Zongguan Police Station and taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center on June 8, 2021. 

Ms. Liu in her 60s was recorded by surveillance cameras when she distributed truth-clarifying materials. She was taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Guo Shihui, 82, was also taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. She was previously detained in the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in 2019. 

Zhou Mingli, 73, gender unknown, lives alone in the Changshouqiao Community in Hanzhong Street, Qiaokou District. Zhou was taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in April 2018 and was detained for four and a half months. 

3. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Mingying Faces Second Hearing

Ms. Liu Mingying, 74, was tried in the Kaijiang County Court at 2:30 p.m., March 23, 2021. Lawyer Sun submitted a not-guilty plea for Ms. Liu. The hearing ended without a verdict. 

Ms. Liu was scheduled to have a second hearing in the Kaijiang County Court on July 19, 2021. 

4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Luo Ji Sentenced to Three Years in Prison 

Elderly Ms. Luo Ji was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Maonan District Court. The verdict was upheld by the Maoming Intermediate Court on the morning of April 30, 2021. 

Ms. Luo’s family hired a lawyer for her. The lawyer visited Ms. Luo in the No. 1 Detention Center of Maoming City on the morning of July 9, 2021. Ms. Luo has only a few teeth left now, though her physical condition is relatively stable. 

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Ronghua Detained in Prison

Ms. Sun Ronghua from Goubangzi Town of Beizhen City, was transferred from the Jinzhou Detention Center to the No. 2 Ward, Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on June 29, 2021.

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Tian Xiuyun Harassed

Tiao Xiuyun (gender unknown) was harassed by officers from the Sandongqiao Police Station. Tiao Xiuyun refused to sign a guarantee statement. 

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Yinfeng Detained

Fifteen officers from the Qianxi District Domestic Security Division and the Donglianhuayuan Police Station including Tian Runyou, head of the Qianxi District Domestic Security Division, went to Ms. Ma Yinfeng’s home around 9:30 a.m. on November 20, 2019. Two officers watched Ms. Ma while the others ransacked her home. They confiscated her computer, printer, cellphone, her Dafa books, and other items of personal property. Ms. Ma was taken to the Qianxi District Police Department and placed under 7-day detention. She was taken to have a physical examination. The detention center refused to accept her because of her poor health. She was released that evening. 

Ms. Ma’s husband received a call from the Donglianhuayuan Police Station on July 4, 2021. According to the higher authority, the previous 7-day detention order must be executed. 

Two officers went to Ms. Ma’s home on July 5, 2021 and took her to have a physical examination. The next day, Ms. Ma was taken to the Qianxi Detention House under 7-day detention. Ms. Ma was released on the morning of July 12, 2021. 

8. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Qiu Shengbing (gender unknown) lives in the Xingyue Village, Mengyang Town. Qiu was harassed by village official Luo Xuyou and Xie Bin on June 17, 2021.

Ms. Wen Caiying was on her way home when local official Qiao Xiaohong took a photo of her without her permission on June 27, 2021.

Zhong Dianjun (gender unknown) from Xingyue Village was harassed by village official Huang Jun on July 8, 2021. 

The daughter of practitioner Xing Xianping (gender unknown) from Yongqiao Village received a harassing call from village official Chen Wenshu on July 8, 2021. 

9. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Su Qingying Harassed

Officer Li Benhai from the Wendeng District Domestic Security Division went to the home of Su Qingying (gender unknown) with a bag of rice and a bag of flour on July 15, 2021. He told Su Qingying, “Do not go out to tell people about Falun Gong. If you stop, we will not bother you anymore.” He took a photo of Su Qingying and made a voice recording without Su’s permission. 

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jing Fengwei Arrested 

Ms. Jing Fengwei was arrested at her rented house by officers from the Liuhe County Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 15, 2021. 

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Qu Yajie and Cheng Yuqin Harassed

Two officers from the Xinli Police Station went to Caohongzhang Village on the morning of July 10, 2021. They went to each practitioners’ home one by one, according to a list they had, to see who still practiced Falun Gong. They came to the home of Qu Yajie (gender unknown) around 10 a.m. that day. One officer asked questions such as whether the practitioner still practiced Falun Gong and whether there were any Falun Gong books in the home, while the other took a photo of the practitioner. When they arrived at the home of Cheng Yuqin (gender unknown), Cheng was not at home. They called Cheng’s daughter who worked in another area and told her to send Cheng’s photo to them. 

12. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Case against Ms. Mo Liqiong Submitted to Court

Ms. Mo Liqiong is the chief financial officer for the Kanglong Group, a listed (stock market) company. Her case was submitted to the Yuhu District Court by the Yuhu District Procuratorate on June 3, 2021. 

13. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Yan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Wang Yan was arrested in August 2020 and was released on bail pending trial. She received multiple calls from the Hualin Police Station in 2021 and was told to go to the police station. She refused. Ms. Wang was put on the CCP’s wanted list. She was arrested by officers from another police station on July 15, 2021 and was taken to the Hualin Police Station.

Her family was informed on the morning of July 16, 2021 that Ms. Wang would be forced to have a physical examination. 

14. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Xuefang Arrested

Ms. Guo Xuefang was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Wolong Police Station around 2 p.m., July 15, 2021. She was forced to have her photo taken and to give her fingerprints. Deputy Cong Jun took some officers to her home, but Ms. Guo’s family members refused to open the door for them. Ms. Guo was released around 7 p.m. that evening. 

15. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Bao Yanhong Arrested

Bao Yanhong (gender unknown) was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong at a bus stop and was arrested around 9 a.m., July 15, 2021. Officers ransacked Bao’s home and confiscated Dafa books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Bao’s current whereabouts are unknown. 

16. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Family Members Arrested 

Ms. Bai Xingwen and her two daughters Ms. Ji Yingmei and Ms. Ji. Yingping, live in Xiezuo Village, Gudao Town, Hekou District. The three of them were arrested at Ms. Ji Yingmei’s home around 6 a.m., July 15, 2021. The home was ransacked. 

17. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Lanying Harassed

Two officers from the Hongqilou Police Station in Qiaodong District went to Ms. Zhao Lanying’s home around 9:30 p.m. on May 26, 2021. Ms. Zhao was not at home. Her husband was pressured to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of his wife, which he refused. The officers made her husband phone Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao refused them over the phone as well.

18. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Lingdi and Wang Junqiao Arrested 

Ms. Lingdi lives in Fodian Village, Dongliuchun Township, Dingzhou City. Wang Junqiao (gender unknown) lives in Mafucai Village. They were reported to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Zhengzhang Village, Zhengzhang Township, Anguo City and were arrested on July 7, 2021. Their homes were ransacked. 

Ms. Lingdi was released that evening and her family was extorted for over 1,000 yuan. Wang Junqiao was detained in the Qingyuan District, Baoding City.

19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Jun and His Wife Ms. Miao Yuhuan Arrested 

Mr. Zhang Jun who is a teacher in No. 123 Middle School and his wife Ms. Miao Yuhuan were arrested on July 15, 2021. Ms. Miao Yuhuan was released that afternoon. Mr. Zhang Jun was placed under criminal detention and detained in the Jinzhou Detention Center. 

20. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Case Against Wang Haimin Submitted to Court

Wang Haimin (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Haihui District Police Department on May 13, 2020 for distributing the truth-clarifying materials. The officers ransacked Wang’s home and confiscated Dafa books, a computer, printer, and other items. 

Wang Haimin was taken to the Nenjiang Detention House on May 14, 2020 and was detained for 15 days. Wang was released on bail pending trial for one year. One year later, Wang was placed under residential surveillance. 

Wang’s case was submitted to the Aihui District Procuratorate on July 2, 2021 and was escalated to the Aihui District Court on July 9, 2021. 

Wang Haimin’s status was changed on July 15, 2021 from residential surveillance to bail pending trial. 

21. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Xiaozhi Harassed

Ms. Yang Xiaozhi from Hongtoushan Town, Qingyuan County was arrested on March 10, 2021 for distributing truth-clarifying materials. After being shocked with electric batons by the police she developed hypertension. She was released on bail pending trial on March 15, 2021. She has received multiple harassing calls from the police since then. 

Ms. Yang’s family member received a call from the Kaiyuan Police Department on July 12, 2021. The officer demanded that Ms. Yang stop by the police department. Due to the continued harassment, that afternoon, Ms. Yang suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was taken to the hospital emergency room. She is currently still under observation in the hospital. 

22. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Cheng Weiping Harassed

Five people from the District Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the local community office went to the home of Cheng Wieping (gender unknown) around 3 p.m. on July 14, 2021. Without showing their IDs, they ransacked Cheng’s home. They confiscated five copies of Zhuan Falun. Two of the books were hand copies by Cheng. 

23. [Qujing City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Dai Yuzhen Arrested 

Ms. Dai Yuzhen received a call from her son-in-law around 10 a.m., June 11, 2021, informing her that the police were looking for her. Shortly afterwards, six men and two women showed up at Ms. Dai’s home. They immediately started to search around while videotaping. They confiscated Ms. Dai’s computer. 

Ms. Dai was taken to the Jianning Police Station. She was placed in a room and was watched by two officers. An officer came in around 4 p.m. and told Ms. Dai that she'd been reported to the police and that she was also caught on surveillance camera when she talked to students at the No. 6 Middle School about quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. The officer told Ms. Dai to sign a form of administrative penalty decision, which she refused. She was released after 11 p.m. that night. 

24. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Jianguo Harassed 

Four officers from the Dali Road Police Station in Lubei District went to Mr. Li Jianguo’s home with video equipment around 5 p.m. on June 10, 2021. Two of Mr. Li’s younger sisters were also at his home when the officers arrived. The officers quickly locked the door and started to videotape Mr. Li’s sisters because they thought they were the practitioners as well. After Mr. Li explained that they did not practice Falun Gong, the officers allowed the sisters to leave. 

25. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] 14 Practitioners Detained 

Fourteen practitioners are currently detained in the Chaoyang City Detention Center. 

Eight of them are from Lingyuan City, including Liu Ruifen, Zhou Yajuan, Li Jing, Liu Sulan, Yu Shufen, Qiao Yinglan, Wu Yanling, and Cao Yueping. 

Three practitioners are from Chaoyang City, including Ding Shuhua, Jiang Cuilian, and Li Guihua. 

The other practitioners are Li Yuxia, and Gao Xiaofeng from Chifeng City. Ms. Gao is now unable to take care of herself.
