My Way of Handling the Vaccination Requirement

(Minghui.org) Regarding Covid-19 vaccine requirements, my employer initially said that it was all voluntary but that those who chose to not get inoculated had to sign a waiver to release the employer and the hospital giving vaccinations from any liabilities should they become infected with the virus.

I told a manager that new variant strains had emerged and that the vaccines might not work. Moreover, all vaccines have side effects. The manager replied that my reasoning was a bit too extreme, but he did not pressure me to get the shots.

At that time, about half of my coworkers refused to get the shots. Most of them said they were allergic to certain ingredients in the vaccines as they excuse. Recalling that I’d had hives (urticaria) before I began to practice Falun Dafa, I also listed “medical reason” to opt-out of being vaccinated.

A Political Task

After some time, my employer started another push to get everyone vaccinated. We were told that mass vaccination of employees had now become a political task assigned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) committee, which urged CCP members to take the lead in getting vaccinated themselves.

As a result, everyone in my department got vaccinated except for three people: one who’d had a craniotomy, a contract worker with a child, and myself.

Strangely, quite a few CCP members in the Party committee office right next door to our department office didn’t get vaccinated, even though they had no medical concerns. So “CCP members taking the lead to get vaccinated” was just a slogan meant to mislead ordinary citizens.

All the other unvaccinated coworkers were talked to about the importance of getting inoculated, but no one spoke to me and I did not do anything. When some coworkers asked why I did not get the shots, I explained that medical experts in the international community have found Chinese-made vaccines ineffective and even resulted in some side effects such as antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE).

Adverse Reactions

Two coworkers, both CCP members, had severe adverse reactions to the shots. One of them, Ying, fainted in the office the day after being vaccinated. Someone called her husband and they took her to a hospital. Another was a man, who was dizzy and had palpitations and felt cold and then hot. Even though it was the middle of summer with temperatures hovering over 30⁰C (90⁰F), he often wore a winter coat at work. Neither of them showed progress after being treated for a week.

Clarifying the Facts

I had talked with Ying in the past about Falun Gong. She agreed with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance but had misunderstandings about Falun Gong. Because she believed in Buddhism, she was interested when I talked about Buddha or the persecution of spiritual belief. Since she’d joined the CCP at a young age and once worked in the army, she was not clear on the CCP’s vicious nature and did not want to quit it when I urged her to do so in the past.

When I asked how she fared after the vaccination, she said it was terrible and she almost died.

“Before the vaccination, an official urged me to take the lead as a CCP member,” Ying said. “After I started to have adverse reactions, no officials cared about me.”

Because there were other people in the office, I just reminded her to rest more and left.

When I passed her office a week later, I noticed Ying leaning over in her chair.

“Are you feeling better now?” I went in and asked.

“Not really,” she replied. “I have the coronavirus infection symptoms these days: fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath, and coughing.” (Later I heard that the two coworkers who shared her office had not come for a few days. They were afraid of being infected.)

Ying said that every day she struggled to come to work and was not able to rest at noon as usual due to the physical discomfort.

“I went to the hospital every day. At first, they paid attention to me and reported my adverse reactions,” she continued. “Now they shirk their responsibility, saying I signed a waiver.”

I then chatted with Ying about traditional Chinese culture, which emphasized the connection between mind and body. For example, one of the most well-known books on medicine from ancient times, Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic), points out, “With righteousness inside, the evil substance is unable to interfere.”

When Ying asked how to achieve sufficient righteousness inside, I told her the two phrases that I had urged her to recite in the past, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” In today’s China when innocent Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted for their belief, anyone who supports the innocent will be blessed.

I also told Ying that the CCP aims to destroy China and the world by promoting atheism. She said there was a report that the top CCP leader went to Tibet and worshiped Buddha statues.

“Yes, the CCP top leaders know atheism is nonsense, but they still use it as a tool to control people,” I said. “In fact, the CCP intends for people to worship it as a god.

“The result is disastrous. In the past 22 years, the CCP has detained and tortured untold numbers of Falun Gong practitioners. Many of them even became victims of forced organ harvesting. The CCP is doomed because of its many bad deeds. Only by quitting its organizations could one avoid sinking with the regime.”

At that time another coworker came in, and Ying asked him to join our conversation.

“You know, I once showed you a video on prophecies,” I said to this coworker. I then explained to him the two phrases I mentioned to Ying, saying that keeping them in mind would be good for him.

I also clarified some defamatory CCP propaganda about Falun Gong. This coworker did not say anything and then left.

“Not everyone is receptive to what you say,” Ying said.

“That’s fine. It may take some people more time to awaken to the truth,” I said.

“Zero-Out” Campaign

The persecution of Falun Gong has intensified lately, and one example is the “zero-out” campaign aimed to force every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s blacklist to renounce their faith.

I told Ying that I refused to sign my name when company officials asked me to sign a prepared statement to give up my belief.

Ying asked why I didn’t.

“Because they are committing a crime by trying to force me to sign that statement,” I replied.

“But your child might be affected,” Ying was worried and said.

I said it wouldn’t be good for my child either if I betrayed my conscience and signed that statement. My determination to uphold my faith is also an opportunity for me to show my child the right thing to do.

Ying then asked if my wife supported me in standing my ground. I replied that my wife was a bit apprehensive about my saying no to the officials, but that I’d talk to her more about why I couldn’t allow the CCP to deprive me of my basic right of freedom of belief.

I reminded Ying of the similarity between the CCP’s “zero-out” campaign targeting Falun Gong practitioners and its current mass vaccination campaign. The former is an opportunity for the CCP to shirk its responsibility in the persecution—if practitioners sign documents to give up their belief, that would be the same as “acknowledging” the “validity” of the persecution and relieving the CCP of its responsibility for all the harm it has caused practitioners. Similarly, if people sign a waiver before getting vaccinated, it means the CCP will not be held responsible for adverse reactions to vaccines.

As I left, I reminded Ying to keep those two phrases in mind and she seemed to agree.

The next day, I ran into her at the elevator and she looked better. “I feel much better now,” Ying said. “Thank you so much.”

This controversy about getting vaccinated has become a topic for me to bring up the benefits of Falun Gong, the ongoing persecution in China, and how CCP has been deceiving people all along. When people ask me again why I don’t get the shots, I say Falun Gong enabled me to have enough immunity to ward off the virus so I don’t need them.
