(Minghui.org) Nitra, one of the oldest cities in Slovakia, is the fifth-largest city in the country, with a population of about 80,000. Falun Gong practitioners from the surrounding area held a petition drive in Nitra on Saturday, June 26, on Stefanikova Street in the center of the city. They wanted to draw attention to the persecution that the communist regime in China is carrying out against Falun Gong practitioners.

Such petition drives have already been held in other cities in western Slovakia, including Topolcany, Komarno, Dunajska Streda, Nove Zamky, Banovce nad Bebravou, Hlohovec, and Zlate Moravce. Practitioners plan to continue the effort and visit other cities. The petition asks the president of the Slovak Republic to call on the representatives of the People’s Republic of China to immediately stop the persecution of people who practice Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) in China.

Mr. Viet, who lives in Surany, credits Falun Gong with helping him return to normal life. He spoke to passersby at the event. “I have lived in Slovakia for 34 years. I ran into Falun Gong in late March 2018, when I was lying in a hospital in Bratislava with cancer. A Vietnamese friend visited me, brought me books on Falun Gong, and recommended that I practice it.”

Mr. Viet started doing the exercises right in the hospital, and although he couldn’t even walk at first, he gradually improved. After about two months, his tumor disappeared. Subsequent examinations and tests confirmed that this was the case. “The last time I was examined was earlier this month, and last week I learned that the results were excellent,” said Mr. Viet, smiling broadly as he handed a leaflet about Falun Gong to a passerby.

Mr. Viet’s wife did the exercises with him, at his recommendation, while he was still in the hospital. When he returned home, they did the exercises together. She came to the petition event with him.

He joined the event in Nitra to let more people learn about what is happening in China. He gladly shares his story of how Falun Gong helped him.
