Power of Dafa: Protected by Dafa

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa is extraordinary and magnificent, and its mighty power reaches both the macrocosm and the microcosm. The cases detailed in this article are just a tiny manifestation of the power of Dafa on the level of the secular world. While Dafa can bring blessings to humankind, Dafa’s extraordinariness and magnificence are more for people to return to their true origins.

I am a 57-year-old female Dafa practitioner from the mountain region of southwest China. I would like to share stories from the 20-some years of cultivating Falun Dafa to express my gratitude to Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa) and share with fellow practitioners.

Master Saved My Family from a Catastrophic Mountain Torrent

It was July 2008 and it had been raining heavily for several days. Our house is made of earth, and it is about 200 yards away from the river. The surrounding land has a lot of sand. On the evening of July 27, seeing that the rain was so heavy, I stood under the eaves and yelled “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” I had formed a habit over the years that I would say those phrases loudly whenever something doesn’t look right. I then went to bed. My neighbors woke me up around 2 a.m., and told me what happened while I was asleep.

It turned out that earlier in the night, a young man who lived upstream came out to check the rain and found that it was getting extremely heavy. He remembered that his elder cousin lived next to the river so he went to warn her. She came out but forgot some money at home, so she went back in to get the money. Just then, the flood rushed down, bringing with it big rocks. One rock made a big hole in the wall of her home, and both of them were swept away by the flood. He was able to grab a piece of wood and was stopped by the steel frame of the greenhouse behind my home. He yelled, and my neighbors heard him, and took him inside to change clothes. My neighbors thought of leaving from the other side for safety. But there was another stream, with water was going very fast, and they couldn’t cross it. 

They didn’t hear anything in my home, so they entered to wake us up. My relatives in other places also called me to see how we were doing. They were all surprised to find that no water had gotten into my home, even though my house was so close to the river.

The next morning, the husband of the young man’s cousin came to look for her, and didn’t find anything. Eventually her body was found under the highway bridge. Quite a few people died during this flooding, and many homes were greatly damaged.

We later found that the flood was divided into two streams, about 200 meters upstream from my house. My house was right in the middle, at a place looking like a safe island. Around me everything was a mess. The police found several people’s bodies near my home. There were piles of sand and mud left from the flood, each over a meter high and several meters long. The greenhouse’s steel frames were all broken and had collapsed. I told the villagers and my relatives that Dafa’s Master protected me because I was a Dafa disciple. 

I have a neighbor who has some mental issues. But he always believed Dafa practitioners when they clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to him, and he often recited “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” That night, he was swept away by the flood to the riverside and the next morning, his brother found him on top of a pile of debris, but uninjured. I told everyone that they should all recite “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and they would receive blessings from the divine.

Life Renewed After Practicing Dafa

My health deteriorated quickly when I was only 23 years old and had to take a lot of medicines. I had severe gynecological diseases, cholecystitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and insomnia. I was extremely skinny and could not do any physical labor. 

I was introduced to Dafa in 1996, and at first, I was only going to give it a try. But within six months I recovered from all my illnesses. I was so grateful to Master for giving me a new life. My family witnessed the power of Dafa and they all supported me in practicing Dafa.

I became much stronger after practicing Dafa, and I was able to do physical labor. Once, I shouldered over 200 pounds of vegetables to sell at the morning market. The people there even had trouble to move the produce, but it was easy for me. Through studying the Fa, I knew that I must cultivate my xinxing and raise my moral character. There was one time when I was selling vegetables and the customer gave me 100 yuan by accident, and I gave it back to him immediately.

Every day I studied the Fa and did the exercises no matter how busy the farm work was. I also went to other places with fellow practitioners to let others know about Dafa. One April, during the busiest time for farming, fellow practitioners asked me if I wanted to go with them to another province to introduce the Fa. It would take a whole week, but I agreed. The place we visited was very cold and rainy those several days, and we came from the warm south, so we didn’t bring warm enough clothes. However, we still held all kinds of activities to introduce Dafa to people.

My Family Benefited from Dafa

When my younger daughter was two, she accidentally tipped over a bottle of boiling water, and the hot water spilled on her feet. My parents immediately called me and asked me to come home. I thought that I was a Dafa practitioner so she should be fine. When I got home, I saw that she was indeed okay. I played Master’s Fa lectures for her, and she went out to play after three hours.

When she was in the 7th grade, my older daughter was hit by a motorcycle when riding a bicycle. The front wheel was mangled, and could not be repaired. My daughter went to the hospital for a checkup, and she was fine. The motorcycle driver only paid for the medical exams and the bicycle wheel. Her classmates saw that the bicycle was in bad shape, and were shocked when she came to school unhurt.

We had a neighbor who drove a tricycle. When my younger daughter was in the third grade, the neighbor often gave her a ride home from school. One day when they arrived at the intersection near our house, my daughter got off, and a minivan driving by rolled over her feet. My neighbor was very scared and stopped the minivan. But my daughter said, “I’m fine,” and ran home.

Resisting the Persecution

China’s former dictator Jiang Zemin launched a brutal persecution against Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners on July 20, 1999. Within a short period of time, the country was filled with lies about Dafa, and many Dafa practitioners came out to clarify the facts. In July 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. I was then taken back to a local brainwashing center. I was not allowed to sleep for several days and was given little to eat. Because I was not clear on the Fa principles at the time, I left stains on my cultivation path.

After the big flood incident in 2008, I clarified the facts with people and was reported by another villager. People from the local Political Security Section came to my home and arrested me. I looked within and knew that I had the attachment of zealotry and mentality of showing off, which provoked the persecution. I negated it in my mind, and sent forth righteous thoughts to disintegrate the persecution. I also used that opportunity to clarify the facts to the police and I told them of the amazing things I had witnessed. With Master’s protection and fellow practitioner’s righteous thoughts, I was released within hours.

During that time, the police broke into my home to question my younger daughter and she was traumatized. The next day, she left home, but she didn’t go to school, and instead she went to hide somewhere. The teacher called me and it took us a while to find her. This brutal persecution against good people have left an indelible shadow on her young heart. Later on I learned who reported me, but I didn’t have any resentment toward him, because he was also a victim of the lies. 

Another time, I was unaware that a fellow practitioner had been arrested and I called her. The police figured out my location from the phone call and arrested me. They kicked me, and hung me up by handcuffs. I resisted the persecution and went on a hunger strike. I was not afraid in my heart, and I didn’t say anything. I was detained for over eight months.

Later on, I searched inside and found that it was because I copied others instead of relying on the Fa. I’d heard another practitioner talking about a fellow practitioner who was arrested and didn’t say anything, and was detained for eight months. I then thought, “If I were persecuted, I also would not say anything.” Just that one thought resulted in my being persecuted. 

Cultivating Xinxing and Facial Paralysis Went Away 

One year during the fall harvest, I went home to get some water, and the water leaked out from the side of my mouth. I looked in the mirror and saw that my face was crooked. I immediately looked inside and negated the false illusion. Normally, I know that a facial paralysis patient should not be exposed to wind or cold water. I did not pay attention to this and I just spent more time studying the Fa, doing the exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts, looking inside, and cultivating my xinxing, I recovered within a couple of days. 

Fellow practitioners asked me about it and I said it was all because I cursed a lot. They said, “We never hear you curse!” I said that I often cursed in my mind. When my husband was very generous when it came to his parents and relatives and was stingy when it came to me, even though I didn’t say anything, inside I was jealous and had a strong resentment. These attachments and human notions resulted from the attachment to personal benefit and profit, and they were very stubborn. They were interfering with me, and stopped me from cultivating diligently. 

I know that I’m still far away from the standard of the Fa, and there are many attachments that I must eliminate. I will study the Fa more, get rid of these human notions and attachments, and do the three things well.
