An Entrepreneur's Secret for Happiness and Success

(Minghui.org) What is the best-kept secret for an entrepreneur’s success, both in business and life? For Mr. Lin Chien-chi, chairman of the board of directors for a technology firm in Taiwan, watching a Shen Yun performance was the turning point. 

“That was in 2015 and the [Shen Yun] performance really shocked me – what kind of team could present so much talent, and such a seamless and perfect production?” he recalled. “Upon hearing that all the artists are Falun Dafa practitioners, I knew I had to check it out.”

And that investigation started a new chapter in his life.

Enlightenment and Inspiration

Due to a stagnant business and deteriorating health, by 2015 Mr. Lin often felt frustrated and lost. He then attended a Shen Yun performance that year. Mezmerized by the young, talented artists bringing to life the glorious 5,000-year Chinese civilization through exquisite dance, he was deeply impressed by the superb performance. 

“It was as if the performance had help from the divine, making it so outstanding and unimaginably beautiful,” he explained. Coming from a technology background, he wondered how the artists could achieve such an unparalleled, high level. The synchronization between the dance, music, and the dynamic backdrop was so seamless. “It was all so thrilling, that I was, like, Wow! How could they achieve this?” he shared. 

One of the dance pieces, “The Power of Compassion,” was particularly moving. “This story inspires people to be good, instead of bowing to the vicious,” Mr. Lin said. And he realized that compassion can be applied in life and at work. “When guided by compassion, one will head towards the right direction in everyday work,” he continued. “It also gives a person perseverance and resilience to keep going in the face of setbacks or failures.”

The Shen Yun performance brought Mr. Lin peace, relaxation, and relief from stress. He felt recharged and ready to face whatever lay ahead of him. At the same time, he could feel the determination of the Shen Yun artists, who put in a tremendous amount of hard work to present only the best. “From being good at something, one can always do better, and there is no end to becoming the best,” he explained. “As one continues in that direction, the outcome will be amazingly good.”

Watching the performance gave Mr. Lin many ideas on how to do better at his workplace, including team building. Furthermore, he gained wisdom on developing new products and marketing strategy. “By following Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I have a different understanding of managing the business,” he explained. “Instead of complaining or selling products at a low price when sales are slow, product quality is still the most important. Even if it means rework, we have to provide the best to our clients.”

Because of his high quality products, news of Mr. Lin’s satisfied clients spread by word of mouth. Within several years, his business earned numerous industry and government-sponsored awards and established a unique brand internationally. With over 30 patents, he has expanded his business to 11 countries. Right now, only four manufacturers in three countries own the special patented technology developed by his business. 

Continuous Innovation

Mr. Lin used to be in poor health, with issues including stomach problems, a sleep disorder, and lack of energy, and he would get cramps in his arms and legs, especially after driving for a long time. His health problems were making his life very difficult. Shortly after he began practicing Falun Dafa, however, Master Li (founder of the practice) helped Mr. Lin cleanse his body. All of his ailments were gone within a few days. Impressed by this wonder, his family also started practicing Falun Dafa. 

Over time, Mr. Lin has gained a better understanding of the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “In terms of my products, I have to be honest with myself first; then I think of winning the trust of others,” he said. He chooses high quality materials rather than use inferior materials at a lower cost. “Although customers may not see it, I know it, and the divine is also watching,” he explained. “To be a good person means I will strive to be better and better. There is no limit.”

Forbearance is also a characteristic he is working on, Mr. Lin said. This means maintaining calm in the face of various tests. When clients complain or have a bad attitude, he follows Falun Dafa’s teachings – looking within to see where he can do better. He then modifies the product until the clients are satisfied. 

Brand recognition comes from the actual experiences of customers, not promises from vendors. “Some competitors’ products only last two years while my products still work after 10 or 20 years,” he added. “That is why I have to constantly find new customers and develop new products.” Because of that, in the field of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) professional fixtures, Mr. Lin’s product is the only one in Taiwan.

After he started practicing Falun Dafa, Mr. Lin stopped being out for himself and instead started focusing on serving customers well. Although he didn’t specifically pursue profit and gain, his client base grew and revenue has increased steadily. 

Looking back over these past few years, Mr. Lin and his wife Ruiling are both very thankful. “It is Falun Dafa that gave us a new beginning and a new patch of blue sky,” he said.
