An Accident Becomes an Opportunity to Quit the CCP

(Minghui.org) I was riding my bicycle one morning on April 21, 2021, when I saw a car driving right toward me. I also heard the roaring sound of a motorcycle from behind me. In the blink of an eye, the motorcycle came up on the left side of my bike. To avoid the oncoming car, the motorcycle suddenly swerved and hit my bike, throwing me up into the air. I then fell to the ground.

My eyesight dimmed and I felt dizzy. A man came and helped me to sit up. When I became more clearminded, I saw that he was the man riding the motorcycle. He asked me, “How do you feel?” I said, “I’m okay.”

He then looked at my injuries. My left hand was bruised and bleeding. He asked me how old I was. I told him that I was 81.

His facial expression told me that he did not believe I was that old; he probably thought I lied about my age to extort money out of him. But he was indeed scared. I told him, “Don’t be afraid. I practice Falun Gong. I’ll be okay, and I won’t make any trouble for you. You’re actually lucky that it was me that you hit today. If you hit someone else, you’d be in big trouble.”

I asked him what his name was. He only told me that his last name was Li. I knew he was afraid that I would cause him trouble if I also knew his first name. I thought that this would be a good opportunity to talk to him about Falun Gong. I asked him, “Have you ever heard of quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its organizations for a safe future?”

He immediately responded, “I have heard of it. To be honest, I was reluctant to listen to the Falun Gong practitioners in much detail because I believed that Falun Gong was anti-Party and anti-society. Now I understand that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. I did join the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers [two youth organizations of the CCP], please help me to quit them.”

I said, “Good. Since you don’t want to give me your full name, I’ll use the pseudonym, Fortunate Li, to help you quit the CCP and its organizations online.” He thanked me sincerely. I asked him to remember his pseudonym. He agreed and then left the accident scene.

However, the onlookers felt uneasy about letting this man go so easily. They said to me, “You are a strange old man! You’re an elderly person injured in an accident and you’re not going to the hospital right away! Instead, you asked the person who hit you to quit the CCP to have a future! Nowadays, there are too few people like you...”

A neighbor was among the onlookers. He said he was going to take care of making that person return to the scene to settle the matter appropriately. I stopped him.

After returning home, my wife also complained to me, “Why did you let him go without taking down his ID number?” A neighbor also said, “Nowadays, a hospital visit would easily cost a few thousand yuan. It would not be unreasonable to ask that man to pay you five hundred yuan. How could you let him go so easily?”

I responded, “I practice Falun Gong. Falun Gong teaches me to be a good person!”
