(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 64 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Shan Jining Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Ms. Shan Jining was arrested on August 23, 2020, for telling others how to stay healthy during the pandemic. She was placed in criminal detention by the Jinfeng District Police Department.

Ms. Shan’s case was turned over to the Xixia District Procuratorate for review and prosecution on September 28. On December 11, the Procuratorate brought up charges of “using a (slanderous term deleted) organization to undermine law enforcement” against her, and filed “Indictment No. 48 (2020) by Yinchuan/Xixia No. 2 Criminal Prosecution Department” at the Xixia District Court. A trial was held on January 7, 2021.

“Criminal Judgment No. 242 [2020], First Instance, Ning 0105” was issued on February 25, 2021, which sentenced Ms. Shan to four years in prison with a fine of 20,000 yuan.

It was reported that Ms. Shan appealed to the Yinchuan City Intermediate Court.

Ms. Shan had previously been sentenced to two years at a forced labor camp on January 4, 2001, and three years of forced labor on December 1, 2004.

Ms. Shan was previously sentenced to three years in prison with five years of probation by the Xingqing District Court on April 1, 2010. On November 24, 2016, she was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Dawukou Court, Shizuishan City. She appealed. Her appeal was rejected by the Shizuishan Intermediate Court on December 21, 2016, and the original sentence was upheld.

2. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Zhao Qiuying Officially Arrested

Zhao Qiuying (gender unknown) from Baoding City, Hebei Province, was arrested at home in Tianjin on March 29, 2021. The police ransacked the place and confiscated all Falun Dafa books, a printer, and a laptop computer.

Zhao was detained on March 30 and officially placed under arrest on April 13. Zhao is being held in the Nankai District Detention Center. Family visits are denied, and only lawyers are allowed to visit Zhao.

3. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners’ Cases Turned Over to Procuratorate

Ms. Fan Ying from Changde City and Ms. He Fuxiu, Lu Wei (gender unknown), and Mr. Zeng Xiaolin from Changli County were recently arrested by local domestic security officers. The four practitioners were officially placed under arrest. Their cases were turned over to the Taoyuan Procuratorate.

4. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Zilan and Ms. Feng Shuping Arrested

Ms. Li Zilan and Ms. Feng Shuping were arrested at home by officers from the Tangyuan Town Police Station on May 2, 2021. The officers threatened both practitioners’ families. Both practitioners were taken to the Linqing City Detention Center.

5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Song Jinyuan Expelled From Work

Mr. Song Jinyuan was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials and his home was ransacked by plainclothes officers from the Liuxiang Police Station on September 6, 2019. He was officially arrested and later sentenced to nine months in prison by the Taiyuan City Intermediate Court.

In September 2020, Mr. Song’s work unit, Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, decided to expel him from public office.

Mr. Song is 58 years old and should retire within two years. He has now been deprived of his job and retirement benefits, and has no salary or other source of income.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Chengshou Held in Detention Center

Mr. Wu Changshou was arrested by officers from the High-tech Zone Domestic Security Division on April 20, 2021. He is being held in the Changle Detention Center.

7. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gu Wenhua Harassed

Ms. Gu Wenhua from Lingcheng District was harassed at home by two officers from the Ande Street Police Station on April 28, 2021. The officers asked if she distributed Falun Gong materials at a certain local work unit.

8. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zeng Xingyang and Three Family Members Arrested

Dozens of officers from the Tianhe District Police Department and the Shipai Police Station, dispatched in three groups, carrying search warrants and summons warrants, simultaneously ransacked Mr. Zeng Xingyang’s shop, his home, and his sister-in-law Ms. Deng Yu’s home in Gonghe Village on April 9, 2021.

Mr. Zeng’s younger sister Ms. Zeng Yueling was at his home and was also arrested when two Falun Gong informational booklets were found in her bag.

Currently, Mr. Zeng, his younger sister, and his sister-in-law are being held in the Tianhe District Detention Center. Mr. Zeng’s wife Ms. Deng Fang is being held in the Haizhu District Detention Center.

9. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Nie Rongzhi and Ms. Mao Linfang Harassed

Ms. Nie Rongzhi and her family were harassed by officers from the Dadukou Police Station and Yang Jian, staff member of the Guangming Community Management Office, on March 15, 2021. In mid-April, they called Ms. Nie and pressured her to sign paperwork, but she refused.

A plainclothes officer, another person, and Yang Jian went to 72-year-old Ms. Mao Linfang’s home on April 20. They pretended to pay her a visit, but instead pressured her to write a three statements document renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Mao refused.

10. [Qionghai City, Hainan Province] Ms. Fu Yongchun Detained

When Ms. Fu Yongchun left home and arrived at Sanya City on April 26, 2021, she was arrested by Sanyan Station police. At around midnight that day, an officer went to her home, ransacked the place, and confiscated her Falun Dafa books among other personal belongings. Ms. Fu was detained for 15 days.

11. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Held in Detention Center

Mr. Zhou Deyong, Ms. He Boqing, and Ms. Meng Fanyun from the Shengli Oilfield Area were arrested by the Binhai Police Department on April 22, 2021. They are being held in the Binhai Detention Center.

12. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Wang Harassed

Chen, who is in charge of household registration at the Xujiapeng Police Station, along with staff members from the Sub-district Comprehensive Management Office and the community management office in Wuchang District, went to practitioner Wang’s home on numerous occasions from August 2020 to March 2021, and harassed Wang. They videotaped and photographed Wang. They pressured Wang to sign several forms, but Wang refused.

When Wang was not at home, they threatened, intimidated, and deceived Wang’s daughter, who had a history of mild mental illness, to go to the police station and sign several forms. They also asked the daughter to thank and support the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while being videotaped, after which they stopped going to Wang’s home.

13. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Lingmei Arrested

As part of the “zero-out” campaign, Wuhan City Political and Legal Affairs Committee personnel went to Ms. Zhang Lingmei’s home in the No. 288 Community on March 19, 2021. They pressured her to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened that if she did not comply, they would take her to a brainwashing center. Ms. Zhang did not open the door and did not cooperate with them. That night, she left home, and for the next two weeks she stayed in her son’s home.

On April 2, Ms. Zhang returned home. On April 9, officers from the Panlongcheng Police Station received a secret report from informants and went to Ms. Zhang’s home to harass her aggressively. She was determined not to open the door, and instead clarified the truth to them and told them to avoid doing bad things. They did not listen to her, violently broke the lock, and entered her home. They took her to the police station. Officers did not take Ms. Zhang back home until 1:30 a.m. that night and forced her to pay 1,000 yuan for bail.

At the same time, officers went quietly to Mr. Zhang’s son’s home, and ransacked the place, looking for items to prosecute her.

14. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Fengcai Ordered to Return Over 250,000 Yuan Pension

Ms. Zhang Fengcai from the Hebei District received an express postal mail from the Hebei Branch of Tianjin Social Insurance Fund Management Center. The letter contained the “Decision on the Order to Return Pension and Insurance Benefits within Given Time,” issued to Ms. Zhang by the Hebei District Social Insurance and Elderly Benefits Distribution Section.

The letter stated that Ms. Zhang had “served a prison term from October 2005 to October 2014” for practicing Falun Gong. Based on instructions in relevant documents, it was decided that her accrued years at work prior to serving the sentence was reset to zero, and her pension benefits should be recalculated. The letter ordered Ms. Zhang to return 252,229.80 yuan in pension payments she received, before the deadline they specified.

15. [Beijing] Mr. Liu Shengzhi and Wife Ms. Su Xiurong Harassed

Mr. Liu Shengzhi and his wife Ms. Su Xiurong from Raolefu Village, Chengguan Town, Fangshan District, were harassed at home by personnel from the Fangshan District Procuratorate on April 27 and April 28, 2021.

The couple were reported to the police on March 20, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. On April 26, 2020, over a dozen officers led by village officials went to their home, ransacked the place, and arrested them. The couple were taken to a detention center. After failing the physical examination, they were released on bail.

On April 26, 2021, a staff member of the Fangshan District Procuratorate called and summoned the couple regarding this matter. Mr. Liu had just been discharged from the hospital after surgery and had difficulty moving. At 10 a.m. on April 27, two women from the Procuratorate and two male officers from the Yancun Town Police Station went to the couple’s home to interrogate them, and video recorded the entire process.

16. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Niu Qingqing Held in Detention Center

Ms. Niu Qingqing from Xiaoguan Village, Xiaoguan Town, Gongyi City, was arrested on October 20, 2020. She was held in the Luoyang Detention Center for six months. Her family went to the detention center many times for visits, but they were not allowed to see her.

17. [Gongyi City, Henan Province] Zhang Qiuzhen Harassed

Zhang Qiuzhen (gender unknown) from Zhenggou Village, Xiaoguan Town, was harassed and threatened at home by local government officials and the police on April 22, 2021.

18. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Shi Shenghe Harassed Several Times

Officers Xie Xiaofeng, Li, and others from the Jinchuan Road Police Station repeatedly arrested and interrogated 80-year-old Ms. Shi Shenghe from July 20, 2020 to November 2020. Personnel from the Yongchang County Court, the Longshou Police Department, and the police station twice took Ms. Shi to Hexipu Town for physical examinations, in an attempt to imprison her. Due to her physical condition, the Jinchang City Detention Center refused to accept her.

19. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Zhang Fuling Arrested

Zhang Fuling (gender unknown), a retired teacher, was arrested on the evening of May 2, 2021, for distributing Falun Gong materials.

20. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Zhu Baofu and others from the community management offices of Dongxing Village and Xingyue Village harassed Mr. Qiu Shengbing on April 16, 2021. They harassed Ms. Zhong Dianjun on April 18, and pressured her to sign guarantee statements, but her family refused. Ms. Tan Qifang, Ms. Wang Xianyu and Mr. Song Qinghua were also harassed.

21. [Miyi County, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Wang Fuguo was arrested at home on the evening of May 2, 2021.

Party secretary Zhao Pinghui of Shuitang Village and others went to Mr. Liu Kunwu’s home and photographed him and his mother in April. They also went to the homes of Ms. Que Fafeng, Ms. Yang Xingchun, and Ms. Wang Mingzhen and harassed them.

Two people from the Salian Town Residential Committee went to Ms. Su Lijuan’s home. She was not at home at the time. They then called her daughter and asked where Ms. Su was.

22. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Officers from various township police stations in Gaotang County, along with village officials, harassed several Falun Gong practitioners from April 25 to April 29, 2021.

The following practitioners are known to have been harassed.

On April 27, the Jiangdian Police Station appointed officials from the Nandian Brigade to harass and photograph Xiaoshuang.

Sanyang Village officials in Jiangdian Town harassed Ms. Yang Junfang and photographed her on April 28. Officers from the police station went to Ms. Yang’s home the following day. They told her to go to the police station to sign paperwork, but she refused.

Officials from the Lanshan Community Management Office, Yuqiuhu Sub-district, harassed Ms. Gao Lihua around April 25.

Officials from Maiguantun Village and the community management office in the Yuqiuhu Sub-district harassed several practitioners including Ms. Zhang Chunmei around April 26 to 27.

Party secretary Jin Lei of Jinzhai Village and officials from the community management office in Yuqiuhu Sub-district harassed Ms. Zhao Jingzhen around April 27.

Dongsheng Community police officers from the Yuqiuhu Police Station, and Party secretary Guo Jiandong of Houguo Village in Yuqiuhu Sub-district harassed Ms. Jin Guizhi, Guo Bingfang (gender unknown), and Ms. Guo Dianyu on April 29.

Ms. Zhang Chunxiang, Ms. Guo Ximei, Chen Shimei (gender unknown), and Mr. Li Bingling were also harassed.

23. [Chongqing] Six Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Yang Xu, Ms. Zhu Zhonglan, Ms. Zhu Meiying, Ms. Ye Wenxiu (76 years old), and two other practitioners were arrested in the Nanhuan Residential Community on Shiyang Street in Yudong Town, Banan District, while reading the Falun Gong teachings together on April 22, 2021. Police tortured them to extract confessions. Their homes were ransacked. Four practitioners, including Ms. Yang and Ms. Zhu Zhonglan, were taken to the Jieshi Detention Center in Banan District. The other two practitioners were released.

24. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Chen Jizhong, head of the Fuxing District Domestic Security Division, led a group of four or five people, including deputy director and political head of the Shengliqiao Police Station, to Mr. Li Ganglin’s home and harassed him in early April 2021. They asked whether he still practiced Falun Gong. Mr. Li replied, “Yes! Of course! Falun Gong is so good, how can I not practice it?” They threatened Mr. Li to give up Falun Gong.

In early and mid-April, officers from the Maoxi Police Station went to practitioner Pan’s home twice. The first time when a group of four people knocked on the door, Pan’s daughter refused to open it. The second time, two people went to Pan’s home and photographed Pan.

An officer from the Lianxi Police Station went to Ms. Dang Xianxia’s home and photographed her. They disrupted the normal life and work of Ms. Dang’s family. Later, the officer called Ms. Dang and told her to go to the police department with him. He said that she would only need to sign paperwork there, and they would not bother her again in the future. Ms. Dang did not go.

In early April, officers from the Lianxi Police Station called to harass Mr. Tian Xinchang, saying that they would visit him at his home. He said that no one was at home.

25. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Li Placed in Criminal Detention

Ms. Liu Li was arrested on April 14, 2021. She was held in the Hefei City Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Liu was previously sentenced to six years in prison in 2006. In the second half of last year, her pension was suspended.
