Practitioners and Family Members Stand Up Against the CCP’s “Zero Out” Campaign

(Minghui.org) In 2020, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) began conducting the “Zero out” campaign to force Falun Dafa practitioners to give up their belief. Some practitioners’ family members were pressured, and signed guarantee statements on their behalf to stop practicing. Other targeted practitioners understand that no law in China criminalizes Falun Dafa, and they are determined to safeguard their constitutionally protected right to freedom of belief. Their righteousness has in turn strengthened their families’ support of their practice of Falun Dafa and enabled their loved ones to stand up for them when the community administrators come to harass them. The perpetrators in these situations gave up. 

Standing Up to Administrators

Ms. An, an elderly Dafa practitioner in her 80s, was a volunteer assistant and the CCP felt she was a key contact person. The district and neighborhood administrative personnel went to her home seven times in November 2020. 

In the beginning, they tried to bribe her many times with gifts of rice, oil, tea, candy, and snacks. Ms. An sent everything back. They tried to give her the items again. But she was not moved by their tricks and resolutely refused to sign. 

No matter how they pressured her, she refused to sign. Instead she clarified the truth to them so that they could understand that there’s nothing wrong with practicing Falun Dafa.

Their tricks failed. One weekend the perpetrators threatened Ms. An and said they would send her to a brainwashing center in the provincial capital the following Monday. 

Ms. An was determined and denied the persecution. In her mind she asked Master Li to protect her. Local practitioners also sent righteous thoughts for her. 

Ms. An’s son told the perpetrators, “My mother is already over 80 years old. You intend to send her to a brainwashing center. How can she survive it? If my mother becomes ill, whoever caused it, I will never let him go. I will hold him accountable.” His words really shocked them and they had nothing to say.

Administrators from the district and the neighborhood went to Ms. An’s home the following Monday and told her she did not have to attend the brainwashing session. One said, “You should be careful from now on and stop going out and telling people about Falun Dafa.” That was the last time they came to harass Ms. An. 

In another case, Ms. Dai’s neighborhood administrators knocked on her door. Her husband opened it and asked what they wanted. They said they wanted his wife to sign something. Her husband said she was not at home. Then, they said he could sign for her. Her husband refused, so they left. 

When she came home her husband told her what happened. Ms. Dai was recently released after being held in a detention center for one year. She had been arrested for informing people about the persecution of Falun Dafa. She said, “I did not give in and sign their papers in the detention center. Why would I sign them after I was released? I will not sign. You don’t sign anything either. The CCP only wants to harm people.” 

Her husband agreed. He was angry with the neighborhood administrators and went to their office. As soon as he arrived, he shouted for the director and told her to come out. He kept yelling, “You come out!”

Her husband stood on the first floor and yelled for a while. But the director was hiding on the second floor and would not come down. Finally, another person in the office said, “The director is not here today. Don’t be angry. Please go home.” After Ms. Dai’s husband made a big fuss at the community office he went home. Since then, no one from the community office came to harass Ms. Dai.

Upholding What Is Righteous

When the administrators from Ms. Lin’s neighborhood came to her home, she refused to sign any papers. They found her son and told him, “Your mother will be sent to a brainwashing center if she does not sign.” 

Her son was angry and said, “What?! You plan to send my mother to a brainwashing center? This is kidnapping! She is not a criminal and has not violated any laws. Why do you want to send her to a brainwashing center? Doesn’t the CCP claim it wants a harmonious society? If you kidnap innocent people, can society be harmonious?”

They were speechless. One of them said, “Please don’t misunderstand, we won’t take her there by force. Don’t tell your mother that we talked.” 

The perpetrators then changed strategies and tried some tricks. The neighborhood administrative office director and a staffer gave Ms. Lin’s son gifts and a cash card. 

Ms. Lin’s son said, “Don’t bring me these things. We don’t want them. My wife and I won’t sign for my mother because she said no one could sign for her—so we cannot sign. But you keep coming here and bothering me. I tell you that I absolutely won’t sign for her.” 

The director asked Ms. Lin’s son, “Why does your mother practice Falun Dafa?” 

He said, “My mother used to be in poor health. After she began practicing Falun Dafa, her illnesses were resolved.”

He pointed out, “You need to fulfill your quota so you want me to drive my mother away, right?”

The director quickly said, “No, the upper level authorities want us to do this. We are only following orders.”

Later, Ms. Lin’s son talked with the community person-in-charge, “If you take my mother somewhere or force her to leave home, you’ll break up my family. My mother takes care of my child. I won’t be able to go to work—instead I’ll have to stay home and take care of my child. I won’t have any income.”

The person-in-charge seemed nervous when Ms. Lin’s son said this. She told the neighborhood administrative office not to push too hard.

When Ms. Lin’s son told his mother what happened, she decided to meet with the neighborhood administrators and clarify the truth. She made an appointment with them. 

Ms. Lin told them more about Falun Dafa and told them that they would be blessed if they protected practitioners. They listened, and stopped harassing Ms. Lin and her son. 

Family Members Resist the Persecution

Neighborhood administrators knocked on the door of practitioner Ms. Cai’s home. When her husband opened it, the officers told him why they came. Ms. Cai’s husband was angry, “Get out! Stop coming here and bothering us!” Shocked by his response, they hurriedly left. They never came back. 

Practitioner Ms. Ding’s daughter received a call from her neighborhood administrative office, “The upper level authorities want all practitioners to sign the guarantee statement to give up practicing. Your mother needs to sign it.”

Ms. Ding’s daughter said loudly, “I am busy and have no time to discuss this issue. Don’t call me, and don’t look for my mother.” 

Hearing her adamant words, the caller was speechless. The neighborhood administrative office stopped looking for her mother. 

As long as practitioners are steadfast, study the Fa, send righteous thoughts, and clarify the truth, family members will understand the truth. At critical moments, practitioners can validate Dafa and their family members will side with them.
