Canada: Members of Parliament in Western Canada Send Congratulations for World Falun Dafa Day (1)

(Minghui.org) May 13, 2021, is the 22^nd World Falun Dafa Day and the 29^th anniversary of the public introduction of Falun Dafa. Canadian Members of Parliament sent letters of greeting and recognition to commend Falun Dafa and thank practitioners for their contributions to their local communities.

Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament (MP) and Parliamentary Leader of the Green Party of Canada, said in her letter, “I am pleased to extend warmest congratulations to the Falun Dafa community as you gather to celebrate Falun Dafa Day.

“I stand with you not only in celebration but in solidarity as you fight to protect your right to your spiritual practice.”

MP Brad Vis of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon said in his letter, “I want to commend the Falun Dafa Association of Vancouver for their commitment in helping promote Chinese arts and culture, while building a healthy and inclusive community. Practitioners of Falun Dafa continue to promote truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. These principles serve our community in generating respect and understanding for one another.”

MP Tamara Jansen of Cloverdale-Langley City said in her letter, “Though the festivities are taking place in a different form this year, the Falun Dafa principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance are being honored and celebrated.

“The persecution faced by Falun Dafa in China is a horrible scourge and human rights abuse. I will continue to work with my colleagues to advocate for better treatment of the Falun Dafa in China.”

What Is Falun Dafa?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance as well as five gentle exercises, and experienced improved health and wellbeing. 

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, issued an order to ban the practice.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 22 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply the organ transplant industry.

Under Jiang's personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.
