Additional Persecution News from China – April 18, 2021 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Jianmin Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

Ms. Wang Jianmin was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan on March 28, 2021.

2. [Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province] Eleven Practitioners Arrested

Nine practitioners from Lianzhou City were arrested on the evening of April 12, 2021. More than twelve police cars were seen outside the home of a female practitioner, Afen. At Ms. Lai Chengmei’s home, as soon as the officers confirmed her identity, they threw a black hood over her head and arrested her.

Each practitioner was locked up in a separate room and was forced to undergo physical examinations. Each one was also told to read a page and a half of words while being recorded. In addition, the police also took out a thick stack of printed sheets and told them to sign them. If anyone did not sign, the police would put in a remark that the practitioner refused to sign the paper.

In the detention center, local practitioners saw two Falun Gong practitioners they did not know. The male practitioner’s head was bleeding, which could be the result of police beatings.

Practitioners Tang Rongzhu, Huang Zengyou, Liu Yuxiu, and Deng were released on April 13.

As of April 16, Ms. Lai Chengmei and Afen are still being held in the Yangshan County Detention Center. Lai Lanying, Lan Qiuxiang, and Ahua are being held in the Lianzhou City Detention Center.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jingdi Arrested

Ms. Wang Jingdi from the Tiexi District was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials to a plainclothes officer on April 16, 2021. She was held in the Baogong Police Station, and two assistants on duty monitored her. Around 12 a.m. that night, her husband went to the police station and demanded she be released. The officers told him they could not release her.

4. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Dong Minghui Held in Detention Center

Ms. Dong Minghui from Peide Village, Peide Town, took a train on March 8, 2021, from Mishan to Dalian in Liaoning Province to work on odd jobs. Around 6:40 a.m. on March 9, when she got off the train in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, she was investigated by officers from the Railway Police Station. Her belongings were confiscated, and she was arrested.

Ms. Dong was taken back to Mishan City on March 10 or 11 and is currently being held in the Jixi City Women’s Detention Center.

Four or five officers ransacked Ms. Dong’s home and extorted 800 yuan from her family. They also told her family to pay 5,000 yuan to cover the round trip expenses to have brought her back from Harbin.

5. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Shu Ming Arrested

Mr. Shu Ming, 60, from Xihu District, was arrested by four unidentified plainclothes officers who waited at the entrance of the Nanchang Watch Factory at noon on April 16, 2021. It is not clear where he is being held.

6. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Suhua Harassed

Two officers from the Yanshun Road Police Station, Yanjiao Town, went to Ms. Wang Suhua’s home and harassed her in Zhugedian Village on April 14, 2021. The officers told her not to practice Falun Gong, but she refused to comply. They said that if she insisted on practicing, they would call the Domestic Security Division and arrest her.

Later, they called Ms. Wang’s husband and told him to persuade her to give up practicing Falun Gong, which her husband refused. They knocked on her door again around 5 p.m. that day, but she did not open the door.

That same morning, officers knocked on the door at Ms. Fu Haihong’s home in the village. When no one opened the door, they left.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Jianying Arrested

Ms. Wang Jianying from Baodi District was arrested by officers from the Baoping Police Station on April 14, 2021. Details about her situation are not clear.

8. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Zhao Taken to Prison

It was reported that Mr. Zhang Zhao was taken to the Zibo Prison in mid-April 2021.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Jinping Harassed

Staff members of the Jingyue Central Zone Community Management Office knocked on Ms. Liu Jinping's door to harass and told her to give up practicing Falun Gong, but she refused.

Prior to this, staff members of the community office called and harassed Ms. Liu’s children several times. They wanted to pressure and leverage her children to persecute her.

10. [Anyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Geng Shuqing Officially Arrested

Ms. Geng Shuqing was placed under criminal detention by the Beichen Police Department, Beiguan District, on March 13, 2021. She was held in the Anyang City Detention Center.

Ms. Geng was officially placed under arrest by the Beiguan District Procuratorate at 4 p.m. on March 25. The police did not notify her family. Her family learned on April 3 that she was officially arrested. No family visits have been allowed.

11. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Li Dexiang Arrested

Ms. Li Dexiang was arrested at home on April 14, 2021. The officers did not have legal paperwork.

12. [Chongqing] Mr. Wang Zhongge Arrested

Mr. Wang Zhongge is from Yubei District. Officers from the Xiantao Police Station ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Dafa books.

On the morning of April 15, 2021, Mr. Wang received a call from the police station while he was at work. He was asked to go to the police station. Around 2:10 p.m., Mr. Wang and his wife went there together.

Officers Cheng Fang and Huang Xianjun demanded to know whether Mr. Wang still practiced Falun Gong, or whether he had any Falun Gong informational materials at home. They escorted him back to his home and ransacked the place. They confiscated over 40 Falun Dafa books. They then took Mr. Wang to the police station for interrogation. They took pictures of him and collected his fingerprints and DNA. They pressured Mr. Wang to sign guarantee statements, but he refused.

That evening Mr. Wang’s wife and son went to the police station to request his release. He was released around 1 a.m. that night.

13. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhou Enbo was taken away by the Guan County Court on April 6, 2021. She has returned home. Ms. Lu Guilan was pressured to sign paperwork at home.

Mr. Li Qiwen refused to sign the paperwork. The Guan County Court told his lawyer that Mr. Li would be tried at the end of April or early May.

14. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Chou Yunfeng, Mr. Wang Meiqing, Liu Xin’an (gender unknown), and Deng Yongmei (gender unknown) from Jingzhou District were reported to the police on the evening of April 15, 2021, for distributing Falun Gong materials. They were arrested by officers from the Dangyang Police Station.

15. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Qin Fenggui Arrested

Qin Fenggui (gender unknown) was arrested at home by officers from the Linqing City 610 Office, the Police Department, and the Domestic Security Division on April 16, 2021. The officers confiscated a large number of items. Then they ransacked Qin’s home again but did not find anything. After that, Qin’s family was told to pay 800 yuan for a nucleic acid test, and Qin was subsequently taken to the Linqing City Detention Center.

16. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Fenghui Arrested

Mr. Zhao Fenghui was arrested and taken to the Qionghai Station Police Station, Haikou Railway Public Security Division, on April 7, 2021.

At 10:11 p.m. on April 7, at least six officers knocked on the door at Mr. Zhao’s home for more than an hour. They tried to break into his home and arrest his wife, Ms. Chang Hong. In the early morning of April 12, Ms. Chang left home and became displaced.

17. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Qu Rongshu Harassed

A group of seven people from the Yingbin Road Community Management Office and the Mianyang Social Insurance Affairs Center went to 69-year-old Ms. Qu Rongshu’s home and harassed her on April 14, 2021.

They said that during her prison time between December 2007 and March 2012, the pension she received did not meet the prerequisites as set for enterprise retired employees. They pressured her to sign the “Notice on the Refund of Pension Insurance Benefits.” She did not let them into her home and refused to sign the notice. During the conversation, these people secretly videoed Ms. Qu. As soon as she noticed this she stopped them.

18. [Chongqing] Ms. Geng Pinwei Harassed

Four people, including police officers and staff members of the Longhua Community Management Office in Longzhouwan Sub-district, Banan District, went to Ms. Geng Pinwei’s home and harassed her on the evening of March 12, 2021.

They tried to photograph Ms. Geng, but she stopped them. They pressured her to sign paperwork and threatened to arrest her if she did not sign. She refused to comply.

The four went to Ms. Geng’s home again at around 10 a.m. on March 30. They still pressured her to sign the paperwork, and said, “After you sign we won't bother you.” She still refused.
