(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 45 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Benxi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jin Yumei Arrested and Detained

Ms. Jin Yumei from Tianshifu Town talked about Falun Gong in Bapan Village and was reported to the police by the local village chief. She was arrested by officers from the Tianshifu Town Police Station on March 31, 2021. She is now being detained in the Benxi City Detention Center. Her family was informed that the procuratorate officially arrested her.

2. [Jinshi City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Threatened With Being Sent to Brainwashing Centers

Staff members from the Baizhilin Community waited in front of practitioners’ homes at 5 a.m. on April 15, 2021. They knocked on their doors at around 8 a.m. when no one came out. Four practitioners were taken to the community office that day, including Ms. Fu Yifang, Ms. Hu Xinyuan, Ms. Hu Huiling, and Mr. Ren Wending. The practitioners were forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and were pressured to write the three statements renouncing the practice. They were sent to the Changde Brainwashing Center if they refused to cooperate.

3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Xiuqin Arrested and Detained

Ms. Ma Xiuqin, 70, from the Dongzhou District, was arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Station on March 26, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Two computers, four printers, and some truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. Ms. Ma was detained at the Xinbin Detention House for 14 days. She was then taken to the Fushun City Detention Center.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Suran Harassed and Ms. Yang Hongguang Arrested

Ms. Liu Suran’s son received a harassing call from the Mingzhu Police Station in the Nanguan District. He was told to go to the police station and sign documents on his mother’s behalf. He refused.

Ms. Yang Hongguang was arrested by officers from the Dongfeng Police Station on February 15, 2021. She is now being detained in the No. 4 Detention Center.

5. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Minglan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liu Minglan was recorded on surveillance cameras when she talked to people about Falun Gong in a fashion shop. She was arrested on April 14, 2021 and was taken to the Baishan City Detention Center for a 15-day detention.

6. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Jing Harassed

The younger siblings of Ms. Jiang Jing from the Chengyang District were told that officers from the Chengyang Police Station and the Chengyang Sub-district Office would photograph inside her home and their mother's home, Zhang Yuzhen. If they refused to cooperate, Ms. Jiang's younger brother's and her younger sister's careers would be affected. Ms. Jiang was placed under 24 hour surveillance.

7. [Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ni Shukun Arrested

Ms. Ni Shukun, in her 80s, was arrested on the street on the morning of April 15, 2021. Her home was ransacked shortly afterward. One Falun Gong desk calendar and several leaflets were confiscated. Ms. Ni was taken to the Yingkou City Detention Center.

8. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Lei Zhoulan and Ms. Zeng Fanfeng Harassed

Ms. Lei Zhoulan and Ms. Zeng Fanfeng were harassed at their homes in Mamuhe Village by officers from the Longfeng Town Police Station on April 15, 2021. The police took photos of their homes and of the practitioners.

9. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Ai Kexiu from Mengyang Town was harassed by Wang Li from Sanwang Village, Wang Tao, and Yi from the Mengyang Town Police Station on April 1, 2021. Ms. Lai Nixiang from Qingjiang Village was also harassed that day.

Ms. Liu Yuqi was harassed by three people including Yang Jianbo on the morning of April 9, 2021. They photographed Ms. Liu.

10. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Li Dongmei Arrested

Ms. Li Dongmei was arrested on April 13, 2021.

11. [Chongqing] Mr. Luo Mingyou Arrested and Detained

Mr. Luo Mingyou from the Yongchuan District was arrested at noon on April 9, 2021 and was taken to the Yongchuan District Detention Center that night.

12. [Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xu Zhonghui Persecuted in Jail

Ms. Xu Zhonghui has been detained in the No. 4 Ward of Chengdu Women’s Prison since October 2020. She was diagnosed with cataracts in April 2021 and sent to the Chengdu Shuangliu Judicial Police General Hospital. The prison did not pay any of her expenses. Prison authorities used the pandemic as an excuse to refuse to allow her family to visit her.

13. [Haiyang City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Transferred to another Detention Center

The Haiyang Detention Center was changed to a temporary detention house on March 21, 2021 due to the pandemic. Six practitioners, including Wang Fengxian, Zhang Jiguo, Zhang Junfeng, Wang Chenggang, Ji Lixiao, and Yu Haiyong, have been transferred from there to the Fushan Detention Center in Yantai City, Shandong Province.

14. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Guifen in Her 80s Detained

Ms. Chen Guifen, in her 80s, from Jiangjin District, was tricked by officers from the Degan Police Station with the excuse of needing a physical examination. She was taken to the Huayan Detention Center in Jiulongpo District. She was told that she would be sent to the Zhouma Women’s Prison 14 days later. Ms. Chen was recently discharged from the hospital after suffering from a stroke.

15. [Shishou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yan Fengxiu Harassed

Ms. Yan Fengxiu, 76, from Xinchang Town, was harassed at the place her daughter rented for her in early 2021. People from the city’s 610 Office and the Xinchang Sub-district Office came and demanded that she sign the three statements, but she refused. They instigated her children to pressure her.

16. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lin Lehong and Ms. Ma Yanping Face Trial

Ms. Lin Lehong and Ms. Ma Yanping will be tried in the Yantian District Court on the afternoon of April 23, 2021.

Ms. Lin Lehong, 44, and Ms. Ma Yanping, in her 30s, live in the Dafen Oil Painting Village, Longgang District. They were arrested around October 28, 2020. Ms. Lin was suspected of being poisoned when she was force-fed during her hunger strike in the Longgang Detention Center. She was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment and was vomiting anything she ate. She has since been in poor health with high blood pressure of 160 to 180, she needs oxygen once a week and is only able to eat liquid food. She also suffers from heart pain and numbness in her left hand.

17. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhou Dianwen Sentenced to Three Years

Mr. Zhou Dianwen, a retired coal mine worker in his 70s, was arrested in November 2019 after being reported for distributing calendars with information about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to three years in late 2020 and is currently being held in the Tailai Prison. The prison has denied family visits using the pandemic as the excuse.

18. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Bobin and Mr. Liu Zengkui Sentenced

Mr. Liu Bobin and Mr. Liu Zengkui were arrested during a police sweep on September 22 and 23, 2020. They were tried by the Daoli District Court on March 31, 2021 and were convicted on April 8. Mr. Liu was sentenced to six years with a 20,000 yuan fine and Mr. Liu was given three years with a 10,000 yuan fine.

19. [Beijing] 11 Falun Gong Practitioners Indicted

Eleven Falun Gong practitioners were indicted on April 2, 2021 by the Dongcheng District Procuratorate, after the prosecutor returned their cases twice, citing insufficient evidence. They now face trial by the Dongcheng District Court.

The eleven practitioners, including Ms. Xu Na, Mr. Li Zongze, Mr. Li Lixin, Ms. Jiao Mengjiao, Mr. Liu Qiang, Ms. Meng Qingxia, Ms. Zheng Yanmei, Ms. Deng Jing, Ms. Zheng Yujie, Mr. Zhang Renfei, and Ms. Li Jiaxuan, were arrested on July 20, 2020. The authorities arranged ten police officers to arrest one practitioner.

20. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Duan Yifa Sentenced to Five Years

Mr. Duan Yifa, 70, was arrested on July 26, 2019, and has since been held at the Jiamusi City Detention Center. The Xiangyang District Court secretly tried him in late 2020 and sentenced him around February 2021. Presiding judge Song Tao kept refusing to tell his family the length of his prison term. Not until April 15, 2021, when Mr. Duan’s daughter called judge Song again, did he reveal that Mr. Duan was sentenced to five years in prison. Song also said that Mr. Duan has appealed to the Jiamusi City Intermediate Court and is now awaiting the result.

21. [Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Wang Wenjun Sentenced to 22 Months

Ms. Wang Wenjun, 59, was sentenced to 22 months and fined 4,000 yuan on January 28, 2021 by the Shengzhou City Court. She was taken to the Zhejiang Province Women’s Prison around April 2021. This is the second time she has served time in this prison for practicing Falun Gong.
