(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that two Pingding County, Shanxi Province residents were sentenced in September 2020 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Zhai Yinxiang was arrested on February 3, 2020 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong on the street. He was released at around 12 a.m., only to be arrested again two days later with another practitioner Mr. Gao Xiaohong, after they were followed by the police while going out to put up information about Falun Gong.

The police ransacked their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books and related materials. Due to the pandemic, the local detention center refused to accept them. Although they were released on bail, the police prohibited them from going out of town and demanded that they report to them every two weeks for six months.

The police later submitted the practitioners’ case to the procuratorate, which soon indicted them. Both practitioners appeared in the Pingding County Court on September 26, 2020. Mr. Zhai was sentenced to one year with two years’ probation. He was taken to the Pingding County Mental Hospital after the trial. Mr. Gao was sentenced to 1.5 years and taken to the Meng County Detention Center the same day.

Prior to his latest term, Mr. Gao was arrested on March 16, 2004 after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to ten years in the Qi County Prison on April 1, 2005. The police continued to harass him after he was released in 2015.
