(Minghui.org) Pollen allergies are common in Japan, with large amounts of pollen from flowering trees and grass causing discomfort for many people.

I moved to Japan as a student in 1998. A few of my Chinese friends became sensitive to pollen soon after they began living in Japan. I saw them suffering from itchy eyes and runny nose, and considered myself lucky that pollen did not bother me.

In February 2002, I felt tired, and my eyes watered occasionally. These symptoms lasted for a month. I used to get sick a lot but since pollen allergies usually occured in March and April, I didn't think that was the cause of the problem.

In February of the following year, I suddenly had a severe headache. Migraines run in my family, and my mother, brother, sister, and I all have them. I took medication to ease the pain. However, this time the normal dose of pain killer didn’t do anything for me. I took an extra dose, and still had no relief. My entire head was in explosive pain, and I also felt nauseated.

I lay in bed for two days without eating or drinking. Sleep helped, but as soon I woke up, I had to run to the bathroom and vomit. After throwing up, I didn't even have the strength to climb back in bed. I lay on the floor until I gathered enough energy to get back up.

I graduated with a Master's degree in 2002. After working at my first job for only a year, I still had many dreams I wanted to achieve. I knew I needed to know what caused the headaches. I called in sick the next day, Monday. My headache was lessening, so I went to a hospital for a check up.

In the emergency room, I was triaged to neurosurgery. The attending doctor wrote me a prescription for a strong pain killer. He told me he wasn't sure of the exact cause of the headaches. He said there might be a neurological cause, but he said he was certain that I didn't have a brain tumor.

The medication was effective. Within half an hour of taking it, the pain was gone.

I looked for information about headaches on the Internet. Some websites said that pollen allergies can cause headaches. Thinking about the mild symptoms I had the past year, I concluded that my severe headaches were probably due to a pollen allergy. I subsequently wore a face mask whenever I went outside. Sure enough, the headaches went away.

The next year, I started wearing a face mask in February. My job involves making a lot of phone calls, so I had to take the mask off when making them. If I forgot to put the mask back on, I got a bad headache and sometimes even threw up in the afternoon.

I encountered hardships at work and in my personal life in 2005. I was depressed and irritable. It was during that time that I thought about reading the book Zhuan Falun.

I first heard about Falun Gong in 1996 when I was living with my parents. I noticed that my mother’s health had improved, and she was happier. She told me about the practice of Falun Gong. She went to the park in the morning to do the exercises, and studied the Fa every day. I had never seen her so energetic!

I read Zhuan Falun in two days. The contents of the book were completely new to me. I realized that the book teaches people to be compassionate.

When I left for Japan in 1998, my mother gave me Zhuan Falun, Zhuan Falun Volume II, Explaining the Content of Falun Dafa, and The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection. She encouraged me to start practicing Falun Gong when I got to Japan.

My mood improved after reading Zhuan Falun for the second time. I suddenly noticed one day that it was February, and I wasn’t wearing a face mask. Why didn’t I have a headache? I suspected that the founder of Falun Dafa, Master Li Hongzhi, was watching over me and had cleansed my body.

I didn’t wear a face mask from that day on, and my pollen allergy completely disappeared.

I relocated to a small city in 2010, because of work. I slacked off in my cultivation because I couldn’t join other practitioners to study the Fa. Sure enough, the nauseating sensation came back that spring. I immediately realized the cause of the problem and began to keep up with Fa study and doing the exercises. The symptoms then went away.

I thought about writing this sharing a while ago, but didn’t, because my issue seemed insignificant. I noticed that among the many experience sharing articles on the Minghui website about the heath benefits of practicing Falun Gong, I didn’t recall any on the topic of pollen allergies. Well, it’s now pollen season again, so I wanted to share my experience, which can let more people know the benefits of practicing Falun Gong.
